Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director - Digital Experience. This role will have a significant impact on the development and delivery of content across NYULHs far-reaching and influential web and digital platforms. This role will be responsible for the development of web content, enforcement of creative standards and ensuring there is creative consistency across NYULHs public web and digital ecosystem, while collaborating closely with the Brand Ecosystem, Technology, and Production teams to synchronize efforts and enhance overall content quality and impact. Reporting directly to the Strategy, Digital and Program Measurement Senior Director, this position plays a vital role in protecting and promoting NYULHs brand while fostering its growth through compelling web content and digital experiences that captivate audiences and drive meaningful engagement.

Job Responsibilities:

Creative Vision and Leadership

  • In collaboration with the Head of Cross-Channel Content Strategy, own and develop an overarching content strategy for clinical, research and curriculum web properties that integrates with overall content development efforts as well as drives more consistent and meaningful engagement with NYULHs digital platforms.
  • Develop and articulate a clear creative vision for NYULHs web properties that aligns with the organizations strategic goals and brands digital and web experiences.
  • In partnership with key cross-functional stakeholders, manage the implementation of visual identity and digital style guide across relevant web properties.
  • Lead the Digital Experience team in executing this vision, ensuring that all digital content is engaging, audience-centric, and consistent across various web platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with and extend creative oversight to teams responsible for patient communications, physician content, social media, and email to align strategies and optimize audience engagement across all digital touchpoints.
  • Serve as a creative thought partner to senior leadership, providing insights and guidance on digital trends and best practices.

Content Development and Management

  • Direct the planning, development, and implementation of content strategies for .ORG and .EDU properties, ensuring content meets high standards of creativity and effectiveness.
  • Oversee the production of a diverse range of web content including, but not limited to, .ORG, .EDU, NewsHub, Physician Focus, and other digital platforms tailored to enhance user experience and engagement while maintaining a unified brand presence across all touchpoints.
  • Develop innovative content strategies in partnership with clinical patient experience teams that are based in audience research / data, are reflective of institutional goals, the NYULH brand and drive towards cross-team objectives.
  • Develop and implement processes that leverage the capabilities of the CMS and integrate it into the overall team workflow, identifying areas for continual enhancement of functionality.
  • Ensure all content is optimized for SEO and aligned with the latest digital marketing trends.

Brand Consistency

  • Maintain brand consistency across all digital outputs, ensuring all content reflects the brands voice, style, and core values.
  • In partnership with cross-functional stakeholders, oversee the implementation of digital style guides, digital applications, templates, and standards for content creation and distribution to be used across the organization.
  • Direct the process of regularly reviewing and updating digital content to maintain freshness and relevance in line with brand standards.
  • Collaborate with the Brand Experience team to ensure that all digital initiatives are aligned with broader brand strategies and customer engagement goals.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and ADA guidelines to make digital content universally accessible and inclusive.

Team Management and Development

  • Lead a diverse team of .ORG and .EDU Content Strategy Leads, Content Managers, Content Writers and Visual Designers.
  • Lead and mentor the team, fostering a creative and collaborative work environment.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the team, providing regular feedback and opportunities for professional development.
  • Manage resource allocation and budgeting for digital projects, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with department MarTech team to align on existing and future functional capabilities, future state vision, innovation roadmap and day to day digital operations.
  • Partner across department COEs to stay up to date on priorities and identify opportunities for collaboration that drive multi-channel impact.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, IT, UX, and design teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to digital content and campaign strategies.
  • Engage with the Brand Experience team to align digital initiatives with brand narratives and customer experience enhancements.
  • Work with analytics teams to measure content performance and apply data driven insights to continual improvements and innovation in content strategies.
  • Partner with patient communication teams to get a thorough understanding of relevant patient experiences (e.g., milestones, pain points, perceptions, behaviors, etc.) to ensure content strategy is well informed and complimentary to any existing clinical patient communications.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions with senior management to ensure digital strategies are fully integrated with overall institutional objectives.

Innovation and Trends

  • Stay abreast of emerging digital technologies, web design trends, and content management systems that can enhance the creative output and efficiency of the web team.
  • Encourage experimentation and innovation within the team, exploring new tools, techniques, and platforms to keep the organization at the forefront of digital marketing.
  • Lead initiatives to implement new technologies and practices that enhance the institutions digital presence in addition to patient and physician audience engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 10+ years of relevant experience in digital content development, web design and management, or creative direction; 3+ years of experience managing and leading teams; Bachelors degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field; Strong creative vision and art direction with the ability to lead projects from concept to completion; Strong understanding of user experience (UX) principles, digital design, and information architecture; Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and lead a diverse team; Demonstrate knowledge of accessibility standards and ADA compliance to ensure all digital content is accessible to all audiences; Proficiency in digital marketing tools, content management systems, SEO, and web analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field; Previous experience in the healthcare industry; Previous experience in online publishing and/or online retail/e-commerce.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.38 - $220,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
