Maritime Operations Americas is hiring for a Maritime Technical Advisor (MTA) to join our Americas Team as part of our Transformation journey to deliver integrated maritime solutions that Power Progress for a sustainable, profitable, net-zero carbon future.

  • Ability to safeguard our license to operate by ensuring compliance with applicable international and national regulatory requirements, industry standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Maritime experience, expertise and credentials that qualify for assessment as an Authorized Person Maritime Safety, Technical Authority or Subject Matter Expert within MTF.
  • Discipline to prioritize, focus, and deliver must win as a valued member of integrated natural teams.
  • Capability to provide assurance for terminals, docks, and vessel to vessel operations.

Our MTAs are on point to provide maritime expertise to their assigned business partners, which may include; STUSCO, SOPUS, Chemicals, DLNG, Pipeline, Manufacturing, third party terminals and outside supply points.

As a Team Member of the Americas Upstream Integrated Gas integrated delivery hub, expected to work closely and proactively with the S&M Centers of Excellence to leverage global standardization, learning, and fully synergize.

Operations Team provides 24/7 support, 365 days per year to exceed our business partner targets for safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Expected to share responsibility for weekend, holiday and evening coverage and collaborate with team members to enable each other to maintain a good work life balance.

Proactively support the development of response plans and willing to participate in emergency or operational incident response. The role is an individual performer with no direct reports, however, with extensive internal and external stakeholder engagements.

What we need from you
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience
  • Must have appropriate Certificate of Competence and sailed in a senior officer capacity - Captain, Chief Officer (1st Officer), Chief Engineer, Second Engineer (1st Engineer) to demonstrate clear evidence of sufficient operational / technical / project delivery experience
  • Operational / technical experience must have been obtained on the type of commercial assets and cargos, for which the individual is being assessed
  • Vessel assurance experience in Maritime Operations as well as knowledge of US Jones Act vessels especially Inland barging operations
  • Experience working with HSSE and quality systems such as ISGOTT is a plus
  • Knowledge of applicable US Coast Guard regulatory requirements and Code of Federal Regulations is a plus
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and understanding of working with different cultures

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
