Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight.
Essential Functions:
Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, and perform formal and informal engineering reviews.
Provide use case development support to junior systems engineering team members.
Work under the direction of the ART and various product owners, interfacing with team members and government customers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present technical approaches and findings.
Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers.
Demonstrated contributions to implementation that include analyzing high-level needs and defining a logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements.
Experience in writing and implementing engineering plans within a project.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.
Must possess an understanding of systems engineering processes and principles.
Must have relevant experience working in an integrated team environment.
Proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.
Experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, etc.).
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
Current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance is highly desired.
Experience working within an Agile development environment.
Experience with Systems Analysis, Metric Development, and Architecture development.

Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.
