Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionRole SummaryThe Advanced Lead Acoustics Engineer will work with the Acoustics team with the primary goal of advancing our capability to predict aircraft engine noise with high-fidelity CFD methods. Community noise assessments and attenuation technology maturation for commercial aircraft are the primary objectives for this role, but responsibilities may extend to cover engine component and cabin noise reduction as well. In this role, you will also support full and subscale acoustic testing through test planning, data decomposition, and reporting of noise results particularly as it relates to CFD validation efforts.Essential ResponsibilitiesAs the Advanced Lead Acoustics Engineer, you will:Advance the state-of-the-art in computational aero-acoustic predictions through high-fidelity methods development, solver validation, and standard work definitionSupport computational tool and workflow development with testing and developer feedbackExecute, with limited guidance from senior engineering resources, acoustic analysis, design, test, and integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and product requirementsDocument and communicate acoustic design, analysis, and test data resultsDesign and assess acoustic liners and treatment technologies utilizing a range of in-house and commercial toolsPrepare and present technical information to internal and external customersAssist with the preparation and execution of test programs achieving test objectives within schedule and budget guidelinesContribute to process improvement, sharing lessons learned, and best practice documentationInterface with internal leadership, suppliers, partners, and airframe customersPrepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the companyEffectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and lettersQualifications/RequirementsMaster of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on computational aero-acoustics and 6 years of experiencePhD from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline with a focus on computational aero-acoustics and 3 years of experienceDesired CharacteristicsFamiliarity with acoustic testing, data post-processing, and evaluation within the aviation industryExperience performing computational analyses on high performance computing (HPC) resourcesExperience with high-fidelity CFD meshing, solving, and post-processing workflowsAbility to document, plan, and manage technical programsHighly motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skillsProven teaming and collaboration capabilityThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
