The Project Engineer I
Work schedule M-F 8:30-5pm/ Hybrid

Summary
The Project Engineer I is responsible for developing mechanical shop release documentation for core VRC lifts, creating mechanical product design drawings using Computer Aided Design and Detailing (CADD) software, ensuring that designs meet customer specifications and are in accordance with codes, regulations and best engineering practices.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Creates mechanical designs and drawings for Pflow's core VRC lifts
  2. Uses engineering calculations and knowhow, to verify that all components selected for each application are appropriate for the design intent
  3. Converts verbal and written information into 2D or 3D CADD models and drawings using AutoCAD, BricsCAD or SolidWorks for use in the product manufacturing process
  4. Ensures that all drawings are detailed, accurate, complete and in accordance with customer requirements and company procedures
  5. Delivers all drawings, illustrations and models according to schedules and deadlines set by customers and Engineering Department Management
  6. Contributes innovative ideas, skills and work product as part of a small project group and as an individual
  7. Utilizes Solid Modeling, Product Data Management (PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software as a routine course of business and demonstrates a willingness and ability for continued learning and skills advancement
  8. Analyzes customer, mechanical, structural and regulatory requirements to develop practical, effective and complete vertical lifting solutions

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study
  • Requires 3 to 5 years of mechanical design experience in fabrication, heavy equipment or related manufacturing industry with proven success in developing engineering drawings and applying engineering manufacturing principles
  • Requires a working knowledge of the following: 3D CADD software (SolidWorks preferred),
  • Requires proficiency with PDM and ERP software
  • Requires mechanical engineering knowledge in the following: Mechanical power transmission (gears, chains, shafts, bearings, motors, belts, sprockets, etc.; Hydraulic power systems (pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, etc. ; Structural steel design and fabrication (welding, fasteners, etc
  • Requires a solid understanding of mechanics to develop designs and drawings w/product details, dimensions and structures and indicate materials and manufacturing procedures.
  • Requires the ability to convert verbal and written information into 2D & 3D dimensional drawings
  • Requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability and desire to develop innovative practical solutions
  • Requires excellent communication skills to effectively relay technical product information and solutions in a professional manner
  • Requires the ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • Requires self-motivation, creativity and an inquisitive nature to develop and design unique lifting solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while producing accurate, detailed and high quality work design work
  • Requires computer literacy and the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, ExcelOutlook) proficiently
  • Requires the ability to use basic office equipment: fax, voicemail, copier, calculator, etc.

Work Environment
The employee works indoors in office and production environments. Additionally, the employee will work near moving mechanical parts and in high places. He/she may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. There may be moderate noise in the production work environment.
