Description:      

Cignus is actively seeking a mid-level (3 – 8 years of experience) Aviation/Airport Planner for immediate employment in our Leesburg, VA offices. The candidates can look forward to a variety of exciting projects focused on airspace, airside, terminal, and landside planning across a variety of aviation systems. You will be working in a consulting role directly with aviation clients to analyze, plan, and manage projects in areas such as airport planning, obstruction analysis, aviation data analytics, and more.


The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support planning projects including the development of Airport Master Plans as well as State Aviation System Plans
  • Support the preparation of conceptual designs and ALPs including the use of Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) tools
  • Support FAA Obstruction Analysis projects (OEAAA) with data analysis, ArcGIS artifact development, and report writing
  • Support airside/terminal modeling and simulation studies using tools such as TAAM, AirTOp, CAST, or Simio
  • Develop and assess trends, statistics, and external impacts
  • Support economic and airport and airspace system development impact analyses
  • Conduct demand/capacity analyses for airports and airspace
  • Work directly with commercial clients, airlines, and the FAA to manage projects
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:  

  • Bachelors (or Masters) degree in a relevant aviation field (i.e. Airport Planning, Transportation Planning, GIS, etc.)
  • 3-8 years of Aviation Planning experience
  • Industry-specific experience and knowledge including FAA ACs and ICAO/IATA standards
  • Experience in the use of CAD (i.e. AutoCAD) as well as GIS tools such as ArcGIS
  • Understanding of the FAA's Obstruction Analysis (OEAAA) process analysis elements is a definite benefit
  • Experience in simulation modeling (airside or terminal) a benefit
  • Excellent communications and technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
