As a valued member of our team, the Accounting Support Specialist III is responsible for performing a range of accounting activities to ensure accurate reviewing, coding, and verification of transactions while resolving discrepancies. The position supports financial analysis, tax compliance, and reporting, using spreadsheets and other tools to perform calculations and assist with trial balances. The Accounting Assistant III collaborates effectively with colleagues, auditors, and stakeholders, contributing to the overall accuracy and transparency of financial operations.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. General days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Not eligible for remote work. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour based on experience.

Essential Functions:

  1. Review, code, and verify financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and accounting principles.
  2. Manage general ledger accounts by recording, reconciling, and reviewing entries to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and company policies.
  3. Accurately enter financial transactions into accounting systems, maintaining comprehensive and organized financial records to ensure data integrity.
  4. Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts regularly to ensure accurate financial reporting and identify discrepancies.
  5. Prepare and assist with the development of financial statements and reports, analyzing data to identify trends and provide insights to management.
  6. Process accounts payable transactions, verifying invoices, matching purchase orders, and ensuring timely payment of vendor obligations.
  7. Assist in preparing and submitting tax payments, returns, and reports while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines.
  8. Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data, addressing any issues through detailed research and analysis to maintain financial accuracy.
  9. Utilize accounting software, ERP systems, and spreadsheet tools to perform calculations, generate reports, and support accurate record-keeping.
  10. Work collaboratively with colleagues, auditors, and other stakeholders, effectively communicating financial information and supporting the audit process.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Manage paperwork related to the accounting processes.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, responding to emails and managing invoices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of general ledger processes.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in reconciling accounts, bank statements, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage accounts payable process.
  • High accuracy and speed in data entry.
  • Knowledgeable of accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in creating and using spreadsheets for calculations, financial analysis, and data management.
  • Understanding of tax regulations.
  • Capacity to analyze financial data, identify trends.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.

Travel Required: Negligible – as needed

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role, with a focus on general ledger accounting, accounts payable, or financial reporting.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP.
  • Experience with GAAP standards, tax compliance, and financial analysis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
