What You'll be Working on

The Senior Director, Ecommerce will be a key player in leading the strategic direction and execution of merchandising efforts across multiple sites. This role will drive maximum sales and profitability through innovative merchandising strategies, advanced consumer insights, conversion rate optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. With a deep understanding of customer behavior, industry trends, and digital commerce best practices, the Senior Director, Ecommerce will oversee a team of merchants and provide high-level guidance on optimizing product assortment, pricing, and promotions. You will own the merchandising calendar for 2-3 large brand sites and be responsible for enhancing the digital customer experience across all touchpoints.

What You'll do

  • Strategic Leadership: Drive the overall digital merchandising strategy to maximize sales and profitability. Leverage consumer insights, market trends, and competitive analysis to develop innovative merchandising approaches that optimize product assortment, navigation, and onsite experiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams including product, development, content strategy, digital marketing, and creative to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies. Partner with stakeholders across the organization to align on business objectives and seasonal initiatives.
  • Customer Experience Enhancement: Elevate the digital shopping experience by refining navigation, onsite search, product photography, and PLP (Product Listing Page) and PDP (Product Detail Page) experiences. Identify friction points in the customer journey and implement solutions to improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
  • Promotions & Launch Strategy: Oversee the development of promotional strategies, working closely with licensees to ensure effective seasonal launches and pricing initiatives. Collaborate with marketing and product teams to execute high-impact campaigns that drive engagement and revenue.
  • Calendar Management & Execution: Own the digital merchandising calendar, managing content updates, product launches, promotions, and testing plans on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis. Ensure timely execution and alignment across all functions to meet business goals.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs). Develop a test-and-learn framework to drive continuous improvements in product performance, merchandising effectiveness, and customer engagement.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a growing team of merchants, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability. Oversee the execution of product setup, publishing, markdowns, promotions, and content accuracy. Identify areas for team growth and provide leadership in scaling merchandising operations.
  • Technology Utilization: Act as a key stakeholder in the selection and utilization of digital merchandising tools including PIM (Product Information Management), DAM (Digital Asset Management), review platforms, ecommerce systems (Shopify), and testing tools. Drive innovation by adopting new technologies that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.

Must Haves

  • 10+ years of digital merchandising and/or marketing experience, ideally in the retail industry, with proven success in managing large catalogs (10k+ SKUs) and driving profitable growth.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to balance short-term business needs with long-term strategy, making data-driven decisions that enhance customer experience and drive business outcomes.
  • Proven Leadership: Experience leading and scaling merchandising teams, with a strong ability to mentor, motivate, and develop talent. Track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects from concept to execution.
  • Ecommerce Expertise: Advanced knowledge of ecommerce platforms (Shopify preferred), PIM, DAM, and merchandising tools. Experience utilizing technology to streamline operations and enhance merchandising strategies.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Strong business acumen with a test-and-learn mentality. Ability to interpret large data sets and make actionable recommendations based on customer behavior, KPIs, and industry trends.
  • Innovative & Solution-Oriented: Stay current with industry trends, competitive benchmarks, and emerging technologies. Foster a culture of innovation, identifying new opportunities to enhance the digital shopping experience.
  • Excellent Communication & Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and senior leadership. Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence key decision-makers.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000
