The John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Kendrick Center Director of Program Activities and Information Systems.

About the Opportunity

As Head of Operations, this position will play a key role in establishing the strategic efforts of The Kendrick Center for an Ethical Economy ( and take over data operations for the Center for Career Development ( The goal of this position over the next 12-18 months is to implement Salesforce as both centers' primary data operating systems. Importantly, this role will also maintain current scholarships and success criteria for the main two programs of the Kendrick Center, the Kendrick Educators and the Kendrick Fellows. In short, this role will manage the daily functions of the center while collaborating closely on the data systems needs to shift those functions to digital dashboards. This leader will have a role in planning future programs and center activities.

What you'll do:

Operations


  • Collaborate with personnel of both centers in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans.
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes that provide visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles for key initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with all department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for the day-to-day performance of the operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • In collaboration with Director and Kendrick faculty, devise strategies to ensure growth of programs enterprise-wide, identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Maintain communications through administrative channels to and from Kendrick faculty, the Director, and Senior Leadership.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct appropriate meetings for areas of responsibility.
  • Uphold University and college policies and standards, ensuring guidelines are followed.
  • Serves as an informational resource on policies and procedures concerning personnel, purchasing, travel, internal financial matters, etc.
  • Serve as customer service point-of-contact and liaison for Shared Services and the BE Business Office.
  • Lead development and execution of new social and earned media strategies to include collaboratively creating content, text posts, video and images as well as promoting The Kendrick Center and its programs in a way that is consistent with our organization’s and West Virginia University’s brand media strategy.
  • Cultivating and executing a digital marketing strategy for the Kendrick Center, which includes relevant and engaging content/resources, that document and visualize what the Center’s programming has to offer, and feature on the Kendrick Center website.
  • In collaboration with the Strategic Communications Office, strategize the creation and design of content for social media platforms for the Center, to promote engagement with current and prospective students. Actively engage across all social media accounts to enhance reputation and build relationships with key audiences to drive awareness.

Programming & Curriculum


  • All programming and Curriculum tasks will be done with the objective of implementing Salesforce and supporting data systems.
  • Position would be responsible to coordinate with consultants in implementing Salesforce for the Kendrick Center and the CCD.
  • Once Salesforce is implemented, position would be the main point of contact for all Salesforce generated reports and dashboards, including but not limited to recruitment, retention, points of contact, and success.
  • Operational management of all Kendrick programs, including advertising, event planning, and sponsorship.
  • Manage outreach initiatives by scheduling, inviting, and participating in center activities.
  • Represent the Kendrick Center by traveling the state to cultivate and maintain existing relationships with K-12, higher education and private industry partners ensuring they are up to date on Kendrick Center programming and offerings.
  • Serve as an advocate for expansion of programming and experiences within the College and University undergraduate and graduate curriculums.
  • Direct recruitment for the Kendrick Educators Program and the Kendrick Fellows Program, 75% of the centers budget centers around these two programs. Diligent oversight is required to ensure the students are a good match for the program and can be successful. Recruitment will also include event planning and management, such as the WVU Summer Ethics & Economics Workshops. Recruitment may require substantial travel around the state.
  • Organize, execute, and host events for programs, such as public lectures, conferences, information sessions, forums, luncheons, workshops, and other functions on and off campus.
  • Cultivate internal partnerships with Undergrad Advising, Honors, and Recruitment and Retention.
  • Collaborates with recruitment staff to ensure growth in the programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between the students and instructors, offering tutoring and guidance when needed in areas such as Ethics, Economics, and Econometrics.
  • Research, strategic planning, and execution of “Knowing Home” programming for the Kendrick Fellows. Choice contingent on program objectives and current Kendrick Fellow programming needs.
  • Data analysis of program metrics to benefit future center investments.
  • Investigate and gather resources that aid in the implementation of teaching plans.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of the process for selection of instructional materials for the various programs and workshops.
  • Ensure that the approved curricula are fully operational and being actively used by all instructors and participants. Assist in classroom and workshop observations.
  • Manage special projects as they relate to programming, including curricula and instruction.
  • In collaboration with the Director and Director of Assessment, assist with assessing and monitoring the progress of all students.
  • Manage the office and repository for all curriculum and assessment work, resources, and information. Maintain all files and records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business fields or economics.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following:
    • Program coordination, event planning, and team coordination.
    • Video creation, graphics, and communication.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Microsoft Word, and PPT.
  • Proficient in web development, graphical visualization, writing for the public.
  • Be proficient in computer applications. Encourage use of technology in the delivery of instruction and understand the challenges that faculty and students face in using technology.
  • Be proficient in computer programming: Python, Java, C#/C++.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills in Cloud Computing, Data integration, SharePoint, for instance.
  • Ability to travel required (up to 3 weeks per year).
  • Experience working with high-end users.
  • Bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and multicultural awareness.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply data analysis, new strategies, and evaluation techniques.
  • Understand and communicate current trends and best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
