Manager of Recruitment

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Enrollment and Marketing, the Manager of Recruitment plays a critical role in helping College for Social Innovation (CFSI) achieve its student enrollment goals for Semester in the City, CFSI’s flagship off-campus semester program.

The Manager of Recruitment’s primary responsibility will be to recruit students to participate in CFSI’s Semester in the City program, engaging in direct recruitment of students as well as cultivation of campus champions (faculty, staff, and student leaders) to assist with recruitment efforts. This role requires frequent travel to college campuses to facilitate in-person recruitment strategies and events. The Manager will oversee a portfolio of campuses and engage in strategic planning related to recruitment and the broader CFSI value proposition to colleges and their students. In addition to recruitment activities, the Manager will support interviewing and enrollment activities.

This is an ideal opportunity for an entry-level professional who has demonstrated skill in student recruitment or a related field and who is interested in joining a growing, entrepreneurial organization working to solve challenges in higher education and the social sector and increase access to high-impact internships.

This is a hybrid position that requires the candidate to work in person 2-3 days a week in the office located at 89 South Street, Boston. The ideal start date for this role is June 1, 2024.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

College Recruitment Strategy & Execution, 70%

  1. Implement strategic recruitment initiatives to meet student application and enrollment goals at a designated portfolio of 5-7 colleges and universities.
  2. Collaborate with university partners to source talented and qualified students and future agents of change to participate in the Semester in the City (SITC) program.
  3. Develop and manage relationships with key individuals and groups on each campus, including faculty, staff, and students (e.g. professors, deans, advisors, career service representatives, student leaders, key student groups, etc.) to build brand awareness and drive student interest in SITC.
  4. Organize and implement recruitment events (information sessions, panels, classroom presentations, prospect meetings, and more) and powerfully represent CFSI at university-sponsored events such as career fairs, club and department meetings.
  5. Involve current SITC Fellows and alumni ambassadors in the planning and execution of recruitment campaigns; co-manage 1-2 part-time alumni Student Recruitment Ambassadors per campus.
  6. Coordinate personal travel to and within designated campuses (utilizing public transportation and Zipcar as needed).
  7. Support the Director of Enrollment and Marketing and Director of Internships in the process of making mutually beneficial matches between enrolled students and internship placement sites.
  8. Support “anti-melt” efforts to improve retention/yield across the enrollment process.

Data Analysis and Strategy Development, 15%

  1. Collect and report on data that offers insight into successes, challenges, and potential adaptations to recruitment strategies.
  2. Analyze the efficacy of recruitment strategies at a designated portfolio of campuses and adjust, refine, and revise strategies as needed.
  3. Actively participate in CFSI recruitment team meetings and specialized strategy sessions to exchange best practices and identify points of collaboration.

Enrollment Administration, 15%

  1. Perform a variety of administrative tasks including data entry and the drafting, editing, and revision of admissions communications materials.
  2. Manage the movement of each student through the admissions process, scheduling interviews, sending reference communications, and creating and sending admissions letters.
  3. Manage the recruitment and admissions calendars.
  4. Create Salesforce reports needed to aid in the execution of communications and strategic initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS & MINDSET

  1. You have 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in recruitment, organizing, admissions, or sales.
  2. You hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  3. You thrive in public-facing and goal-driven work environments and have a proven ability to pivot and persist to meet ambitious goals.
  4. You are organized and can initiate and manage projects to completion.
  5. You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an engaging communication and presentation style.
  6. You have a proven track record of developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with others inside and outside the organization.
  7. You have demonstrated the ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  8. You bring a deep commitment to diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity; and experience in working with culturally diverse teammates with an awareness and sensitivity to closing the educational gap.
  9. You have experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM software.

  11. You must have a valid driver’s license; travel to college campuses throughout New England will be required; access to a Zipcar account will be provided.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  1. Salary commensurate with experience; likely $50,000 - $60,000.
  2. Medical benefits with 80% covered by CFSI and 20% covered by the employee; BCBS Dental plan 50% covered by CFSI; Vision Plan; Flexible Savings Account.
  3. Commuting Reimbursements (up to $45/month).
  4. Telecommunications reimbursement (up to $100/month).
  5. 21 vacation/personal days plus 14 organizational holiday days per year; office closure the week between Christmas and New Year; office closure on 6 summer Fridays.
  6. Access to regular and ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities internally and the ability to leverage organizational resources to seek additional development opportunities externally.
