General Summary

City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management is seeking to hire an engineer to join our Hydraulic Modeling Team. Hydraulic Modeler is responsible for performing computer modeling on water distribution and collection system, report findings and analysis through technical reports, maps and other visualizations. Modeler is also to maintain and calibrate the City's water distribution and collection system network.

This position supports a full range of Planning & Development operations by delivering informative data in applications that supports critical planning, engineering and decision support activities across the enterprise.

This is a professional level position capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the profession with limited guidance or review.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Develop strategies for collect and analysis of field data
  • Perform hydraulic modeling for water distribution, waste water collection systems, treatment plants
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to report results from analysis
  • Use geographic data to create informative maps
  • Apply data tools to manipulate, maintain, and analyze data
  • Produce visualizations such graphs, charts, and tables to present findings

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of fluid mechanics and hydraulics engineering in water resources
  • Extensive knowledge of water distribution, wastewater collection and water treatment model building and calibration
  • Proficient modeling with InfoWater, WaterGEMS, InfoWorks ICM or similar modeling software
  • Experience in data collection systems, data management, manipulation, analysis, and visualization
  • Knowledge and experience using GIS software for mapping and geospatial analysis
  • Some experience with programing in Python, Java, SQL or similar languages.
  • Ability to operate safely when in field or on project site.
