Your challenges

Accountability (Deliverables / Results):

  1. Setup and maintenance of a fully functional R&D department in order to autonomously run HW-Device projects and deliver the expected results in time, scope and budget.
  2. Apply the Eppendorf innovation process and safeguard compliance of all project activities with local, global and legal rules.
  3. Ensuring close cooperation with the business, especially in the area of product transfer to the TCS manufacturing site.
  4. Execution of new product development projects.
  5. Maintenance of the R&D Budget.
  6. Install a collaborative atmosphere among employees and foster cross-TC collaboration.
Responsibility (Tasks / Activities):

  1. Controlling daily business to comply with the objectives regarding time, budget and quality.
  2. Transfer business needs and expectations into tangible activities to achieve the requested targets.
  3. Ensure availability of qualified staff members to cover all necessary activities, such as project execution and product sustaining.
  4. Further development of the technologies and tool stacks used.
  5. Support project leaders in management of product projects.
  6. Process optimization, efficiency improvement and continuous improvement of the agile development process.
  7. Support and coaching of team members.
Education, Skills and Competencies:

  1. Master degree in either hardware engineering (i.e. electronics, mechanics, mechatronics) or natural sciences (i.e. physics).
  2. Leadership experience in hardware development projects; preferably in lab equipment environment.
  3. Experience in the use and implementation of agile process models.
  4. Entrepreneurial mindset.
  5. Conceptual and analytical skills.
  6. Assertiveness with persuasive power and high social competence.
  7. Openness and cross-cultural competence.
  8. Ability to work under pressure, willingness to create and take responsibility.
  9. Collaborative, team oriented and mission-driven.
