Pacific Coast Producers, a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking an experienced and talented Controls Engineer to join its team based in Lodi, California . Salary Range : $100,000 to $125,000 per year; candidate will be paid based on their work experience and skills. Full-time.This position is eligible for the annual profit-sharing bonus program.
The successful Controls Engineer candidate will be responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing food manufacturing equipment and control systems, to ensure product quality and production efficiency. This exempt position may report directly to the Director of Engineering.
Primary job duties would include:
- Mentor/supervise maintenance staff and work one-on-one with individuals, including industrial technicians and electricians, to ensure use of proper methods and training.
- Lead and assist maintenance staff in complex troubleshooting and control strategy.
- Perform all duties in compliance with customer, third party, regulatory, and company food safety and quality initiatives and standards.
- Manage electrical installations, maintenance and safety including compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Recognize or research and subsequently implement energy conservation and facility operating efficiency opportunities and relevant best practices.
- Interact with production management and staff to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction ideas.
- Undertake additional duties as needed.
- Five (5) or more years of electrical/industrial controls engineering experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and expertise in three-phase electrical distribution and control.
- Competent knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E.
- Thorough understanding of instrumentation and controls in a manufacturing process environment.
- Proficient with PLC/HMI troubleshooting and have in-depth knowledge of program development utilizing Rockwell Ladder logic, Function Block, Structured Text, and Factory Talk View programming and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of advanced control theory, including but not limited to PID loop control, Motion control, Control Net, Function Block programming, Ethernet IP, Producer/Consumer tag structure, User defined tags and Instruction development.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Server 2012. Networking and Domain Structure Administration, and SQL Server Development and Administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with operations management, industrial maintenance staff, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies, and work independently
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with project management software, industrial instrumentation, and control systems.
- Experience in food production and manufacturing environment.
