Vice President/Manager of Tax

Our client is a private equity group with offices in New York, London, and Houston. Their investments are broad across the energy sector, but they have a direct focus on sustainable infrastructure, and have a large portfolio of private credit and private equity investments. Through their unique approach, they are pushing ESG investment forward, and are creating and supporting social and green energy solutions through their portfolio companies.

Finance Team:

The Finance & Fund Operations group is currently made up of the following: Managing Director, Vice President, Senior Associate, and Senior Analyst. The group is responsible for all tax and accounting matters, as well as managing capital activity for the Funds and Manager of the Funds. The Funds are supported by a Fund Administrator, which maintains all accounting records for each of the fund entities. They are looking for an experienced tax professional, ideally with manager experience, working on partnership returns, private credit/structured credit products, and private funds/family office.

Scope of Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for timely review of federal and state tax estimates, returns, and schedules including Forms 1065, 1120, 1042, 8804, and Schedule K-1s
  • Preparation of quarterly partnership tax estimates for the management company including NYC PTET and UBT
  • Preparation of annual book to tax waterfall allocations
  • Conduct AEOI and FATCA/CRS reporting
  • Other ad-hoc tax filings in local jurisdictions such as NYC Sales and Use and Commercial Rent
  • Preparation of annual tax ledgers including Fund, blocker, and splitter
  • Other finance team responsibilities: including review of invoices and outgoing wires, quarterly Fund and co-invest reporting to investors, deal fundings, deal structuring, investor due diligence, interest invoicing and collections, internal expense reports, etc.
  • Reviewing quarterly fund schedules including tax
  • Assisting in the formation and structuring of new Fund entities including blocker and splitter entities
  • Ensuring all withholding and tax payments are timely remitted for federal, state, and local
  • Responding to various investor requests
  • Managing relationships with external tax advisors for both Fund and Management company
  • Ad hoc analysis and projects

Skills Needed:

  • Experience working in private equity or auditing private equity clients is highly desirable
  • Partnership tax experience required
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Quick learner and detail-oriented
  • Problem solver with the ability to take ownership of tasks and proactively seek solutions
  • Continuous improvement and learning mindset
  • Ability to work well both in a team environment, as well as operate independently with minimal supervision

Educational & Work Requirements:

Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Master's Degree & CPA preferred

Work Experience: 6+ years, including Big 4 experience and Partnership tax experience
