HR Manager – Houston Office - ROOM for growth!


Duvera's client, a reputable full-service law firm, is seeking an experienced HR Manager for their Houston office. This role encompasses a variety of human resources functions, including employee relations, strategic planning, policy interpretation, onboarding/offboarding, and general office management. The HR Manager will work closely with the local management team to address HR-related issues, anticipate the firm's HR needs, and develop effective solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide employee relations support, offering guidance and feedback to all personnel.
  • Counsel managers and supervisors on staff performance, HR policies, personnel practices, and employment laws.
  • Document and attend meetings concerning staff disciplinary actions.
  • Lead the staff recruitment process in collaboration with hiring managers—assessing needs, developing job descriptions, conducting interviews, and drafting offers of employment.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new hires, including scheduling and conducting orientations for both attorneys and staff.
  • Manage the performance management process, assist with compensation recommendations, and facilitate goal setting.
  • Handle offboarding for departing staff processing necessary paperwork and conducting exit interviews.
  • Communicate and enforce firm policies; respond to policy-related inquiries and advise management on employee relations issues.
  • Oversee data management, including processing data changes, salary adjustments, disability leaves, terminations, etc.
  • Manage all leave of absence paperwork and tracking for employees.
  • Represent the firm during personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Review unemployment claims to ensure eligibility for terminated employees.
  • Act as a liaison between staff and support departments to resolve issues and share important information.
  • Recommend promotions, demotions, reassignments, and disciplinary actions, including terminations.
  • Assist in the annual review process for staff, including conducting performance reviews for secretarial staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of HR management or senior HR generalist experience in a law firm setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

PHR or SPHR certification.
