PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Unit Director is responsible for the daily operations (school year and/or summer programs) of the designated Boys & Girls Club Site with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, budget management, community relations and membership administration, and reports as needed.

BGCBC Culture
Demonstrate and communicate the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton County (BGCBC) philosophy, objectives, standards and programs through all methods available to members, their parents, and the general public. Provide quality program activities that are inclusive, welcoming, respectful and responsive to the diversity of members, families and community.
Leadership
Ensures Environment, Programs and Services prepare Youth for success and facilitate achievement of aspiration of Club Members.
Provide quality program activities and experiences that promote a sense of purpose and individual empowerment for members to practice and develop leadership skills, make meaningful choices during activities, support members to develop skills in decision making, planning and goal setting skills.
Promote and support members initiated and member lead activities. Foster an environment that offers choices, incorporates team building and promotes a sense of belonging and group identity for members.
Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities, that they receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
Club Operation and Administration
Responsible for ensuring Club achieves program targets, outcomes, revenue goals, contract obligations and community relations.
Responsible to ensure all BGCBC administrative policies and processes to include but not limited to Grants, Development & Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, are adhered to at the Clubs.
Program Planning and Management
Ensures compliance for program contracts including those with community partners, private and public funders.
Keeps accurate attendance, tracks member participation in assigned program areas, documents results and progress of members. Generate monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports as requested.
Leads, creates and evaluates Program development and implementation.
Manage the recruitment and retention of members.
Evaluate program outcomes on a continual basis and that activities respond to youth needs, address their gender, and cultural diversity.
Community Collaboration and Partnerships
Provide opportunities to engage and support the families of members, build reciprocal relationships with communities, volunteers and organizations to support program goals.
Managing a Safe and Positive Environment
Understands and follows policies and procedures to include but not limited to conduct of member policies, supervision of members policies, employee to member policies, member safety policies, child abuse and neglect policies, member health policies, transportation and field trips policies, the club safety/contingency plan, and the procedures for reporting incidents/accidents during program hours.
Assures program safety and safety of staff, volunteers, visitors, members and daily operations. Communicates emergency procedures to all using facility.
Provide guidance and positive mentorship to youth.
Establish and maintain Club program goals and settings that ensure the health and safety of members. Ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program; that program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
Human Resource Management
Organizes, directs and supervises the daily operations of a Club, including staffing program scheduling and work flow. Leads, creates, and evaluates Program development and implementation.
Manages the Club staff and volunteers according to the practices and policies developed by BGCBC.
Train, supervise and evaluate operations staff within the Club. Conduct regular meeting with staff for timely communications.
Must participate in required trainings by the Club, County, State and/or funder.
Financial Management and Development
Create and understand annual budget. Monitors monthly budget reports for Club, take action upon discovery of a revenue or expense variance.
Maintains accurate documentation of Club operations and prepares timely reports.
Marketing and Public Relations
Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers and media releases.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Make purchases as needed for program activities.
May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary.
Will be required to drive Club van periodically.
May consult with parents concerning member and Club issues.
Will be responsible for light housekeeping and cleaning.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), youth members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain instructions, and advise.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, and members' parents.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or a combination of education and experience in youth development.
Able to instruct, coach, and direct varied activities.
Able to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
Exercise independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
Valid Drivers License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to: sit regularly, use hands to handle, and/or feel; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally walk and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to drive for errands.
