Hotel Maintenance/Chief Engineer

Holiday Inn Express North East is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Chief Engineer. In addition to overseeing the engineering day-to-day operation of the hotel, the candidate will also be responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues, guest and associate satisfaction.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electrical/mechanical systems (e.g. HVAC, plumbing) and other hotel equipment as needed.
• Oversee day-to-day activities of maintenance technicians.
• Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure a safe working environment (lock-out, tag-out, maintain MSDS sheets, etc.).
• Supervise and schedule Housemen.
• Interview, hire, and train Housemen.
• Participate in performance management activities.
• Conduct ongoing room preventative maintenance program (see maintenance manual for system specifics).
• Review maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning equipment and mechanical systems.
• Inspect property to identify potential and current needs.
• Solicit contractor bids and evaluate proposals.
• Ensure work with selected contractors is complete to specifications.
• Service hotel pool to include adjusting chemical levels and cleaning filters (not all inclusive).
• Complete maintenance logs as required.
• Maintain building exterior not serviced by contractor (e.g. snow removal, lawn care, painting).
• Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled and as-needed basis.
• Other duties required by upper management.

Qualifications:

• Previous hotel engineering experience preferred.
• Proficient in the English language.
• 1-2 years of management experience.
• Must be willing to work holidays (hotel hours are 24/7).
• May require overnight stays.
• Must be willing to work odd hours.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
