POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Housing Intake Assistant is responsible for all intake functions that deals directly with the stability and progress to a healthier community life of all the residents, including providing programs and resources that enable residents to grow, develop and become productive members of society.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide on-site Life Skills Support Services to residents
  • Refer residents to community resources and assist them in completing applications needed to access community resources
  • Assist residents in developing goals and action steps which will encourage and facilitate self-sufficiency (e.g. budgeting, employment, physical/mental health, housing, time management, etc.) while maintaining sobriety
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings and orientations
  • Work in a team environment and effectively communicate with team members
  • Maintain organized files
  • Supervise and monitor resident conduct, and maintains records of resident activity, including violations
  • Maintain resident confidentiality, by providing appropriate forms and by securing areas where records are kept and knowledge of HIPPA best practices
  • May represent the YMCA in the community on issues related to community development and affordable housing
  • Provide data and complete requirements for Continuum of Care and United Way funding report
  • Assist with entering and closing out work orders for maintenance staff
  • Assist with move-ins and move-outs
  • Assist in processing applications and for recertification
  • Assist with unit inspections
  • Compile and post information for resident awareness and information
  • Monitors and maintains the Homeless Management Information System(HMIS)
  • Manage and coordinate maintenance requests
  • Conducts needs assessment, program and case planning , and program delivery
  • Safety committee member
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associates Degree/Bachelor's Degree or experience in a similar field preferred
  • Three years' experience in related field
  • Technical skills - assessment, case planning, administration, Excel, word and PowerPoint proficient
  • Capable of dealing with a diverse population
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • The employee may have to complete a job where repetitive motions are required.
  • Employee must be able to communicate effectively by speaking and listening.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or GED required
• Associates Degree/Bachelor's Degree or experience in a similar field preferred
• Three years' experience in related field
