About the role:
Glencore Recycling has over 50 years experience in the recycling industry and is one of the world’s largest recyclers of electronic scrap. As the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for the San Jose Recycling Facility you will be involved in implementing the organizations environmental programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
More specifically, you will be tasked with:
- Prepare environmental reports, permit renewals and modifications for DTSC, BAAQMD, Regional Water Quality Control Board, City and County agencies.
- Maintain our ISO 14001 certified environmental program as well as Health and Safety programs based on the same model.
- Develop and implement new programs to meet continuous improvement goals and ensure compliance with regulations and corporate guidelines.
- Track, evaluate, and maintain records gathered by others for environmental compliance including training, hazmat and safety inspections, hazardous waste manifests.
- Ensure that all fatal hazards are well managed and controlled in San Jose
- Evaluate new incoming material streams for compatibility with our permits and safety programs.
- Oversee and/or participate in collection of environmental and industrial hygeine samples.
- Develop and prepare training materials related to environmental compliance.
- Represent the company before regulators, customers, industry associations.
- Serve as a member of the on-site emergency reponse team.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role
- Strong Knowledge of OSHA and Hazardous Waste Regulations
- Excellent communications skills and stable work history
- Must be able to work autonomously to identify and solve problems
- Excellent computer, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
