PETERMAYER’s growth and vision is leading us to seek an experienced New Business Director to be a key role in helping take the agency to our next level of growth. As we outgrow our small, regional agency roots and grow into a competitive national player, we seek someone who will deliver on our ambitious growth goals leveraging our branded competitive advantage.
This role reports to the Partner | EVP, Director of Client Engagement and is responsible for leading the development of highly impactful responses to qualified new business RFP and Pitch opportunities in close coordination with the sales and marketing teams.
Responsibilities
In close collaboration with the Agency sales team, ensure a clean handoff to become the primary point of contact with prospects while owning and leading the end-to-end development and management of all RFP and pitch response opportunities while assuring the agency vision is best represented
Be the day-to-day coordinator between the sales team, marketing team and RFP/pitch response teams
You will develop and drive the win strategy, assuring a narrative is woven through all agency presenters and presentation materials, content evaluation, client/consultant feedback and you will inspire a talented integrated team to deliver great work
Excellent storyteller who can weave a narrative that convinces clients to choose us
Ability to develop a distinct POV on a client’s new business brief or RFP that leads to a winning proposition
Develop insightful prospect dossiers that help the agency team understand the prospect’s company (brand and business situation), key players, business category context, competitive landscape, their consumers and their marketing
Expert at leading and collaborating with a senior agency team to seamlessly and successfully develop powerful RFP responses and pitch meetings
Constantly assessing and evolving RFP response materials, processes and the in-person pitch to ensure it is best-in-class, on strategy, and delivering desired business outcomes
In collaboration with the Agency marketing team, build a library of case studies, customizable agency capabilities decks and content for RFI/RFP questionnaires
Manage associated budgets and annual planning requests
Provide counsel to EVP, Director of Client Engagement on all matters of pitch management and responses that could affect our ability to close new business opportunities
Provide regular reports and updates of activities, goals, and status of RFP/pitch opportunities
Qualifications
8-10 years of experience in the agency business, with at least 5 years of which were directly involved in leading new business reviews and a proven record of helping agencies win business
Entrepreneurially spirited, passionate, resourceful, motivated, hardworking, committed
Interest and passion for growth and creativity
Proven record of being able to successfully run agency RFP responses and pitches on tight timelines to deliver new client wins
You are tenacious and resilient with an innate will to win
You are brave in the face of challenges, quickly moving on and applying lessons learned to the next opportunity
Curious, energetic and a positive team player always seeking the next opportunity
People person who makes strong connections with client prospect contacts, agency search consultants and client procurement teams
Problem solver who loves to creatively troubleshoot issues as they arise
You are seen as a trusted collaborator – someone who has a vision and who is agile enough to adapt to change
Cool, calm, collected under the pressure of RFP/Pitch responses
Brings experience but willing to roll up sleeves and do everything needed to help an RFP response or pitch run smoothly
Embraces the results they are expected to produce
You love advertising and the marketing industry
Exemplary writing and verbal skills, essential for client relationship building as well as internal team interactions/management
Desires to live our agency values of better together, all in, human forward, do the right thing and resilient optimism
Ability to travel up to 40%
