Title: Senior Grant Portfolio ManagerLocation: Upper East SideOrg Unit: Administration- Research (Ped)Work Days: Monday-FridayWeekly Hours: 35.00Exemption Status: ExemptSalary Range: $129,200.00 - $153,500.00*As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC OfficesPosition SummaryThis position entails sponsored research portfolio management and supervisory and mentoring responsibilities for a team of Grant Portfolio Managers. This role will ensure the team’s alignment with the overall mission and goal to provide faculty and departments with exceptional support in all aspects of research administration.Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for overseeing Grant Portfolio Managers, assuring strong productivity and quality of work in both pre-award and post-award activities.Responsible for workload assessment, assigning work, coverage, performance appraisals, and goal setting. Trains staff in compliance, internal processes, and technology for efficient use of resources.Assists with the onboarding procedures for new faculty to: attends meetings, reviews system mapping, submits GRC requests, develops transition plans and assigns work.Takes on or assigns interim work when the portfolio and department expands.Develops work plans for multi-component submissions involving multiple Grant Portfolio Managers.Provides second-tier review of financials, reports, and applications as needed.Maintains an independent faculty portfolio of proposal submissions and post-award accounts.Serves as point person for the team. Organizes and provides training and orientation for new hires.Assists in developing training materials and standard operating procedures.Prepares reports for leadership as needed.EducationBachelor's DegreeExperienceBachelor’s degree in related field.Master’s degree in business, public administration, or another related field highly preferred.Approximately 8 to 10 years of sponsored research administration experience, encompassing a diverse portfolio of grants/sponsored programs.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated track record of setting and meeting goals as well as self-prioritizing in a deadline-driven environment.Strong project leadership, process improvement, decision-making, organization, planning, and implementation skills.Ability to balance attention to detail with big picture thinking.Ability to work in partnership with scientists in a customer-oriented environment.Ability to effectively balance customer service with regulatory compliance.Demonstrated track record of acting as an effective and constructive communicator at all levels of the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information.Ability to present complex financial/budgetary information to myriad audiences.Ability to establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective listener and problem solver.Licenses and CertificationsWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsWeill Cornell Medicine is a comprehensive academic medical center that is committed to excellence in patient care, scientific discovery, and the education of future physicians and scientists in New York City and around the world.
