Job Summary

The Reinsurance Senior Manager is a leader in the Accounting department and oversees and manages all aspects of the reinsurance accounting and operations within the insurance division of the Porch Group of companies. This position reports to the Controller of the insurance division at Porch.


What You Will Do As A Senior Manager, Reinsurance


  • Is responsible for the overall accounting, and execution of effective controls, around our ceded reinsurance programs, including thought leadership toward a more efficient and effective process.
  • Develops reinsurance analytics and enhanced reporting.
  • Serves as the reinsurance accounting technical expert on both a GAAP and statutory basis.
  • Provides leadership, development and support to a team of 3-4 individuals at varying levels.
  • Works collaboratively with HOA Accounting team in the monthly close process and reporting requirements on both a GAAP and statutory basis, including quarterly and annual Schedule F requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with senior leadership in assessing accounting implications on a variety of programs, including quota share, cat excess of loss, etc with both internal and external parties.
  • Leads team through reinsurance workstream changes based on pending reciprocal exchange entity and internal reinsurance programs.
  • Leads efforts to develop enhanced procedures with actuarial and FP&A teams. Works collaboratively with actuarial and FP&A team in applying contract terms on a monthly basis in compiling actuals, analysis and in developing plan/reforecasts.
  • Establishes effective business partnership with external brokers, ensuring responsiveness and timely handling of requests. Ensures accuracy and completeness in all cession statements prior to distributions. Ensures proper procedures in place for timely payments or collections.
  • Handles end to end matters on collateral requirements, including forecasting requirements. Oversees collateral needs in best interest and protection of company.
  • Is a key contact for reinsurance in all audits.
  • Provide necessary reinsurance education and reinsurance program understanding to others in the company. May be asked to lead trainings on an ad hoc basis.
  • Other related projects as they arise.

What You Will Bring As A Senior Manager, Reinsurance


  • Bachelor's Degree is Required – accounting preferred.
  • CPA license required.
  • 10+ years progressive experience required in reinsurance including at least 3 years in management role.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of statutory and GAAP reporting and technical requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of p&c insurance company operations.
  • Netsuite General Ledger, Floqast and Alteryx experience is a plus.
  • Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy, planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to set priorities in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines, with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Is an effective mentor and coach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to think strategically.

Pay Range*: $132,000 - $184,800

  • Please know your actual pay at Porch will reflect a number of factors among which are your work experience and skillsets, job-related knowledge, alignment with market and our Porch employees, as well as your geographic location.

Additionally, you will be eligible to receive long-term incentive awards, subject to program guidelines and approvals.
You will also be eligible to receive an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, subject to program guidelines and approvals.
