Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge, our commitment to reach net-zero carbon across our global operations by 2040. As part of the Worldwide Environment team, Amazon's Worldwide Carbon team is dedicated to working across the company with our business units to make operational changes to accelerate solutions and decarbonize our businesses in service of The Climate Pledge.

The Worldwide Carbon team is seeking a Sr. Net Zero Standards Specialist to support our interim decarbonization pathways and our path to reach net-zero carbon. This role will collaborate closely with Amazon's science and carbon measurement teams on academic research, and support the business on abatement solutions and sectoral policies.

Key job responsibilities

1. Collaborate with Worldwide Carbon and Business Units to continuously raise the bar on Amazon's decarbonization strategy and implementation mechanisms, including sectoral glidepaths and forecasts.
2. Build relationships and trust with external academics, civil society, standard setters, and industry leaders working in decarbonization.
3. Engage with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on their decarbonization pathways.
4. Collaborate with Amazon's Sustainability Science, Technology, and Finance teams to continuously improve approaches to planning and tracking decarbonization.
5. Manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
6. Serve as an internal subject matter expert on carbon accounting topics. As needed, develop guidance materials to distribute across relevant teams and leaders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Masters degree in relevant academic field or equivalent professional experience in decarbonization.
2. Demonstrated experience with planning and execution of carbon measurement tools in private sector institutions.
3. Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally across sectors and addressing diverse business needs.
4. 3-5 years experience working with SMEs.
5. 3-5 years experience working in the Global South.
6. Strong understanding of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and leading industry standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Track record of convening and building trust among diverse stakeholders from civil society, industry, and government around climate change mitigation interventions.
2. Experience in international standards engagement.
