A law firm is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Counsel for their San Francisco, CA office with the following responsibilities and qualifications:
Job Overview:
The Projects (Regulatory) Counsel will focus on managing regulatory aspects related to the development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation of energy projects nationwide, with a specialized emphasis on the renewable energy sector. This role entails handling power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid and transmission issues.
Duties:
- Provide legal counsel on regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation
- Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements and other offtake agreements
- Advise on interconnection agreements and grid and transmission issues
- Review and analyze project finance or project documents for energy transactions
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years of legal experience in FERC electricity regulations
- Exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions
- Knowledge of renewable energy industry regulations is preferred
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to the Bar in California or eligibility for admission
Skills:
- Strong legal research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Proficiency in legal research databases and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience:
4+ years of legal experience with respect to FERC electricity regulations, preferably with exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions
