Manufacturing Industrial Engineering ConsultantPosition Type: Independent Consultant (1099 or LLC)
Locations: Continental United States
Travel Required: 85-100%

  • Analyze and assess manufacturing processes at company workstations - recommending essential process improvements with lean practices to optimize workflow and increase overall efficiency - Uptime, Performance and Quality.
  • Create specifications for various components and assembly steps, determining production benchmarks, and optimizing manufacturing efficiency, reliability through input.
  • Operate fully as independent "technology suppliers" providing the detailed specifications for plant and equipment.
  • Run sample requests provided by R&D to investigate, analyze, and develop innovative product solutions.
  • Develop, support, and improve workstation design and layout to positively impact ergonomics, material flow and productivity.
  • Performs root cause analysis and conduct brainstorming sessions with responsible teams; investigate the process, machine, or equipment; implements counter measures/corrective and preventive actions and training, to any internal or external, quality and safety concerns.
  • Auditing manufacturing cells/lines on a weekly basis to ensure all production processes follow standard operating procedure laid out through Layered Process Audit.
  • Initiate and implement Process Change Requests (PCRs) to improve manufacturability and quality performance.
  • Participating in weekly safety audits to assess new or unidentified safety concerns and risks.
  • Participate in safety incident investigations as required.
  • Responsible for implementing all process and equipment with state-of-the-art technologies to ensure all products are manufactured and assembled with highest quality to meet customer demands.
  • Providing weekly project status updates to management, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Assists maintenance and operations team with troubleshooting process and equipment related issues.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members in technical excellence, procedures, and best practices.
  • Alignment with cross-functional project team.
  • Initiating and implementing process improvements through innovative creative ideas.
  • Develops, maintains, and reviews concepts with suppliers and customers.
  • Monitors implementation of corrective action plans
  • Coordinates the efforts of cross-functional groups and across shifts to resolve bottlenecks, parts shortages, machine maintenance, manpower issues and production capacity.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of Manufacturing Industrial Engineering in Automotive, Aerospace, or other related industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations, or other related fields.
  • CAD experience required.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and ability to communicate effectively with client customers at all organizational levels.
  • Strong oral and written communication and documentation skills, including presentation skills (MS Excel, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
  • Experience leading small teams or delivering projects or programs.
  • Experience prioritizing tasks and managing assignments in a collaborative team environment.
  • Previous Consulting Experience Preferred
