The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a part-time newspaper material handler to assemble newspaper sections and advertising inserts, and place into bundles to send out for distribution.
This entry-level position is an essential process of newspaper production. The position requires bending, lifting, standing and walking up to 7 hours per shift. While we are a 7 day a week, 365 days per year operation, our current need is to fill a Friday morning, 7am-2:30 pm position. However, additional shifts may be available depending on business need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stack down/palletize products as they are run off the press.
- Count and top bundles on conveyor lines.
- Set up the stacker and feed machine headers.
Essential Functions and Qualifications:
- Able to walk and stand up to 7 hours per shift, lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Read and follow directions
- Mechanical abilities; basic understanding of equipment; manual dexterity; high school diploma or equivalent
Other Qualifications:
- Previous assembly, packaging, warehouse or distribution experience preferred
- Experience with forklifts and dollies preferred
- You may be required to operate a pallet jack, hand dolly, or other material moving equipment
Starting pay: This is a union position based upon The Minnesota Star Tribune's contract with Teamsters Local 120. Starting pay is $17.30 per hour .
Schedule: Fridays 7am-2:30 pm; although additional shifts may become available.
