Position Summary The Tax Analyst role will be responsible for managing SICK USA and Canada tax compliance and planning functions, including ASC 740, GILTI, FDII, sales tax, federal and state tax, and international tax matters. This role requires expertise in tax research, tax reporting, process improvement, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Primary Responsibilities Tax Compliance: Prepare and review US federal, state, and international tax returns, including GILTI, FDII, and Canadian federal and provincial taxes. Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and compliance with global tax laws and regulations. Oversee sales tax compliance, including sales tax accruals, reconciliations, and filing of returns in the US and Canada. Manage US property tax compliance and payments, and ensure accurate filing of returns. Handle US use tax and VAT considerations for international transactions. Tax Planning and Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax positions. Conduct tax planning for international operations, including transfer pricing strategies and documentation. Provide guidance on tax implications for business operations and transactions. Tax Reporting: Prepare tax provisions for financial reporting under ASC 740. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax disclosures. Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting of tax-related items. Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on tax issues, including legislative changes and their potential impact on SICK, Inc. Analyze tax treaties, double taxation agreements, and other tax-related documents. Handle tax credit claims, including research credits. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in tax compliance and reporting. Execute process improvements related to Vertex and SAP to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Assist in the conversion of tax processes from SAGE to SAP. Tax Audits and Disputes: Assist in managing tax audits and disputes with tax authorities. Gather and prepare documentation to support tax positions during audits. Tax Calendar and Payment Forecasting: Maintain and manage the tax calendar to ensure timely compliance with filing deadlines. Forecast tax payments and manage tax liabilities to ensure adequate cash flow planning. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and operations teams, to ensure alignment on tax matters. Maintain relationships with external tax advisors and authorities. Manage the relationship with Vertex for sales tax compliance and improvements. Perform other duties as may be assigned or required by management. Qualifications Experience: 5-7 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably within a multinational corporation or public accounting firm (Deloitte experience preferred). Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Certifications: CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred. Position-specific Qualifications: Strong understanding of ASC 740, GILTI, FDII, sales tax, property tax, and compliance requirements. Proficiency in tax research tools and oftware (e.g., Bloomberg Tax, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE). Experience with transfer pricing and international tax planning. Knowledge of tax accounting and reporting under GAAP/IFRS. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Computer/Technological: Experience with SAP and tax software solutions like Vertex. Familiarity with SAGE to SAP conversion processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Language: Professional written and spoken fluency in English required. Schedule: Generally Monday to Friday, full time; be on-call on some weekends (if required). General Working Conditions: Be able to usually work in an office environment; flexible (hybrid) work arrangements available. Travel: Be able to travel up to 15% of the time, including internationally; must have a valid passport. Physical Demands: Ability to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
