About Pursuit

Our mission is to create economic transformation. By training low-income adults to launch and advance careers as software engineers, we help our Fellows go from earning $18,000 to over $90,000 starting salary on average, adding an estimated $2M in lifetime earnings. Pursuit partners with leading companies like Blackstone, USV, Citi, Peloton, and Uber to employ Fellows in career-defining engineering roles and supports them with on-the-job training to ensure potential translates to performance. Since 2013, Pursuit has created ~$1B in total lifetime wage gains, creating lasting economic mobility that spans generations.

Pursuit’s proven solution is built on two interconnected components: training (which includes community development, Core pre-job training, and Commit on-the-job training) and a financial product (known as Bond). However, growing training alone will not meet the magnitude of need nor solve new societal challenges ahead. The typical expectation is to expand our training to other cities, but this will not come anywhere close to creating good jobs for millions of low-income Americans. Instead, our strategy for scaled impact is to evolve our financial product and create tools for other organizations, jobs, and places. We believe that this will not only create good jobs for millions of low-income Americans but will also generate a new trillion-dollar market directly tied to results in the long term.

We are One Big Team

The passionate and collaborative team at Pursuit gives its all to achieve our mission. And it’s not just staff. We work with employer partners that love hiring our Fellows because they are so well prepared, ranging from big financial firms to scrappy startups, and everything in between. We also activate and engage hundreds of volunteers that come from all areas of the tech industry.

As the Government Grant Administration Manager , you will be responsible for:

  • Government grant compliance: Pursuit actively applies for and receives funding from federal, state, and local granting agencies. These agencies each have their own compliance requirements, reporting cadences, and eligibility criteria. As the grants administration manager, you will manage all aspects of pre-and post-award compliance including government systems, technical application requirements, reporting, and reimbursement, and so on.
  • Managing timely reporting for all active grants: Pursuit receives funding from a variety of philanthropic and government sources. These funders have different priorities, KPIs, and definitions for programmatic success. This role will manage reporting due dates and timelines, working closely with relationship managers and program teams to accurately portray Pursuit's performance and submit reports.
  • Grants processing and closeout: Post-award, you will be responsible for processing grant awards by securing the necessary signatures for the grant agreement, sharing financial information for collections, and distributing acknowledgment letters upon receipt of funds.
  • Post-award relationship management: The Grants Administration Manager will be responsible for managing ad-hoc inbound requests for additional information regarding grant performance and compliance, as requested by leadership.

More specifically, you will:

  • Project manage and spearhead reporting against and compliance with multiple already won government funding opportunities, including capital and operating grants.
  • Project manage new federal, state, and local grant applications with an eye and emphasis on compliance with grant requirements to ensure Pursuit’s submissions are eligible for funding.
  • Prepare compliance documentation and manage government systems for government funding opportunities, including systems such as SAM.gov, login.gov, and state/city reporting systems.
  • Support the development of future government funding applications by filling out forms such as federal form SF-424, CD-511, and other federally required documentation.
  • Work closely with Finance and Capital Projects teams to manage the reimbursement process for capital projects and ensure that expenditures are for eligible costs.
  • Support ad hoc requests from the City Council and other discretionary funding opportunities.
  • Work closely with External Affairs to research future discretionary funding opportunities from legislators at the City and State level.

You’re passionate about enabling social impact by ensuring compliance. You’re collaborative and diplomatic. You value diversity.

  • Strong alignment with Pursuit’s mission to create economic transformation for those who need it most.
  • Experience and fluency with government grant systems, Salesforce or other CRMs, and various funder reporting portals.
    • Ideally, experience with:
      • NYC, NY State, federal government grant systems
