Position Overview:
MLR.org is seeking an accomplished and driven professional to take on the pivotal role of Manager of Rehab Services for our client's Rehabilitation Department. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for directing the full scope of inpatient and outpatient operations, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology, ensuring the highest standard of patient care at all times.
As the Manager of Rehab Services, you will act as the key liaison between rehabilitation teams and hospital leadership, driving both operational excellence and innovative care delivery. You will be tasked with overseeing financial planning, budgeting, and resource management to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Key Responsibilities:
  • Management Duties:
    • Participate in the management team and attend meetings as needed.
    • Manage staff hiring, orientation, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in line with HR policies and EEO regulations.
    • Supervise department support staff, ensuring adequate scheduling and performance management.
    • Keep administration informed of department needs and status.
    • Investigate and resolve complaints following hospital policies.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and manage equipment needs and purchasing.
  • Fiscal Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with Admin Rep and CFO on budget planning and staffing analysis.
    • Manage department within budget, justifying any variances.
    • Oversee payroll and timecards, and approve premium pay or overtime.
    • Track productivity through reports and assist with capital expenditure planning.
    • Promote cost-conscious practices and ensure staff compliance.
  • Regulatory and Quality Assurance Responsibilities:
    • Lead department participation in quality improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure timely submission of performance data and maintain regulatory readiness.
    • Stay current on OT, PT, and ST guidelines, and ensure department compliance.
    • Monitor and resolve customer service issues, and oversee incident reporting.
    • Maintain departmental policies and participate in hospital safety assessments.
  • Community and Public Relations:
    • Represent the department within the community and healthcare system.
    • Collaborate on outreach activities and public relations efforts.
    • Support special projects and assignments from the administration.
    • Participate in staff training and orientation, and complete all mandatory certifications.
    • Attend relevant continuing education.
    • Provide 30% patient care alongside 70% administrative duties as a licensed therapist.
Qualifications:
  • Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology, is required.
  • Licensure Requirements:
    • Current CA Physical Therapist License, or Occupational Therapy License, or Speech-Language Pathology License, is required.
  • Certification Requirements:
    • Current AHA BLS certificate required.
  • Skills Requirements:
    • Proven leadership ability with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a clinician in an inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation program.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a management position in a hospital setting.
    • Demonstrated organizational ability to plan and supervise the services and activities of the department.
    • Knowledge of accreditation standards, regulatory, and compliance requirements for an acute care hospital for all Therapy Disciplines (OT, PT, SLP).
