Job Summary
Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests at special parties, banquets, and event functions. Each server's primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time, they will want to use our catering services again.
Activities & Responsibilities
  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Childers Banquet & Catering Center.
  • Consult with Banquet Manager to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, special parties, and banquets.
  • Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service, and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.
  • Check guests' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Serve food or beverages to guests, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
  • Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for events.
  • Set up event site with food, tableware, and linens.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables timely and efficiently.
  • Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom.
  • Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
  • Obtain equipment and supplies needed for each event, ensuring that they meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Inspect event room prior to the start of each function (check room setup, menu, service staff, etc.) to be sure it conforms to the function sheet.
  • Ensure that all the details as per the function sheet are performed.
  • Breakdown and cleanup after the events.
  • Account for all equipment and supplies. Return catering equipment to designated areas.
  • Return or arrange for return of rented materials.
  • Be present throughout the event to assist where needed.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings.
  • Assist fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support the operation of the event.
  • Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Be 16 years of age or older
  • Able to understand and speak using the predominant language(s) of guests
  • Knowledge of banquet & catering service and food and beverage
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
