OCI is building a state-of-the-art elastic cloud with data centers in regions around the world. For OCI, networking is one of the critical and foundational pieces. Being empowered with the flexibility, reliability, and scalability of Virtual Networking, Cloud Applications and Cloud Platform enables Oracle’s Enterprise customers to run their mission critical workload seamlessly on OCI. Within OCI, the Virtual Networking team is responsible for delivering innovative networks with high performance characteristics that exceed those of our competitors.
We're looking for an experienced engineering manager to lead and support our Network Load Balancer Data Plane (DP) team. You'll help grow a highly available, massive scale, integrated cloud service in a distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.
You'll bring experience in leading engineering teams, including hands-on technical management and oncall experience. You have technical experience with high-performance, mission-critical networking environments. You demonstrate strong ownership, solid communication skills and a bias for action. You're comfortable leading projects, communicating with senior leadership, and growing your team.

As an engineering manager at OCI, you will own:
Engineering and project management. You'll work with customers and stakeholders to understand their feature requirements and pain points. You'll build roadmaps and make priority tradeoffs to deliver those features. Then, plan and drive engineering projects to successfully deliver that value to our customers, while managing risks and blockers along the way.
People management. You'll forecast staffing needs, and then work with our recruiting teams to hire those positions. You'll handle coaching and performance-management for the engineers on your team.
Process improvement. You'll work across engineering teams to identify and resolve systemic problems and bottlenecks, to improve our overall engineering velocity and efficiency.
Qualifications:
2+ years of engineering management experience
4+ years in networking operations and management, including oncall support
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field
Familiarity with network packet processing pipeline (Layer-2 switching, Layer-3 routing, Load balancing, Address translations) preferred.
Working familiarity with network virtualization, network protocols and distributed systems

US: Hiring Range: from $84,700 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
