The Engineering Manager (DevOps) will be responsible for overseeing and orchestrating the technical delivery of products and services. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, team leadership, and operational management skills to ensure efficient and high-quality delivery of technology solutions and team alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Execute strategic plans in alignment with the company's objectives, refining technical roadmaps, setting goals, and implementing processes to achieve them efficiently.
  • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps Engineers while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Lead the migration from manual AWS management to a fully automated IAC approach.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of technological trends, tools, and methodologies. Provide technical guidance, support, and expertise to teams to ensure the adoption of best practices and optimal solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence by optimizing processes, implementing best-in-class methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps), and identifying opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency across engineering and operations functions.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners/vendors.
  • Identify potential risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate team and project performance.
  • Continuously assess and improve processes and workflows to drive efficiency and quality.

Qualifications And Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields is well regarded, but not required.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • 2-5+ years of experience technically leading DevOps teams (can be as a Sr., Lead, or Manager).
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with AWS DevOps with solid CI/CD architecture/build that includes:
    • Windows and Linux servers.
    • Experience with GitHub for source control and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
    • Docker is helpful (for a possible implementation).
    • Fargate is helpful (for upcoming implementation).
    • CodeDeploy is helpful (for upcoming implementation).
    • CodePipeline is helpful (for upcoming implementation).
    • AWS Artifact.
    • Previous infrastructure engineering experience a big plus (with a solid understanding of networking).
    • DevSecOps or security experience (with AWS cloud native tools or best practices) is helpful.
  • 2+ years of IAC (specific to Terraform).
  • Experience working with Agile delivery required.
  • Intellectually sharp and highly motivated, with a relentless drive for success and improvement.
  • A hands-on approach, finding satisfaction in rolling up sleeves and "getting it done," whether independently or in collaboration with others.
  • Possesses outstanding character and a magnetic personality.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Compensation depends on experience but is typically $120-140K plus equity. We are willing to send qualified candidates over budget though.
