As a Senior Product Manager, you lead, collaborate with, and motivate a cross-functional team to ensure business goals and objectives are accomplished in alignment with product roadmap and funding parameters. As the lead, you manage internal and external applications to process Insurance business from ideation to launch for all areas of the business (claims, policy, mapping, quoting, accounting, marketing, etc.). The Senior Product Manager is responsible for working with stakeholders, customers, and development teams to define the product requirements, ensuring quality and tracking progress towards stated goals.

  • Accountability for the product backlog and prioritization of user stories with team members.
  • Partnering with all areas of the business and developing a deep understanding of the customer and product needs.
  • Leading teams on project deliverables in an agile development environment.
  • Collaborating with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements.
  • Defining the vision for the team’s product.
  • Creating a product roadmap based on this vision.
  • Overseeing all stages of product creation including design and development.
  • Developing Product Definition Documents and user stories for high-level requirements.
  • Monitoring and evaluating product progress at each stage of the process.
  • Liaison with business analyst teams and end-users to deliver updates.
  • Leading development planning meetings and project sprints creation.
  • Ensuring that product meets regulatory requirements and are integrated with other internal department processes and systems.
  • Conducting User Acceptance Testing and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Subject Matter Expert who will mentor and train team members on product details and knowledge.
  • Special Projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.

Experience

  • 5 plus years of experience working as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, and/or Quality Assurance Specialist.
  • 5 plus years management experience.
  • 6 plus years of Insurance Industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Significant end-to-end business domain knowledge in several functional areas.
  • Significant leadership/management experience with teams of 5 or more individuals.
  • Knowledge of Agile Software Development Methodology.
  • Working knowledge of product development architecture.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work with large and small teams.
  • Understanding of design quality standards.
  • Team player who collaborates well with others.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at one time.
  • Technical background with knowledge of software development and web technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of business process modeling.
  • Expertise in product or marketing including specific technical or industry knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience managing stages of the product life cycle.
  • Proficiency in the use of analytic tools.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
