TITLE: IT Architect – Cloud

HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

DUTIES:

  1. System Software: Evaluate new system software, review system software updates, plan the installation and testing of new versions of system software, troubleshoot software problems and advise on the correct and effective use of system software.
  2. Systems Design: Manage the system design within the functional area and on programs/projects and ensure adherence to relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security).
  3. Solution Architecture: Lead the development of architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers while balancing between functional, service quality, and systems management needs. Ensure that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national, and international) are adhered to.
  4. Information Management: Develop and communicate the organization's strategy for managing information, ensuring that uniformly recognized and accepted data definitions are developed and applied throughout the organization. Ensure that the business processes and information required to support the organization are defined and devise appropriate standards, processes, and data architectures. Evaluate the impact of any relevant statutory, internal, or external regulations on the organization's use of information and develop strategies for compliance.
  5. Innovation/Research: Manage, monitor, and seek opportunities, new methods, trends, capabilities, and products to the advancement of the organization.
  6. IT Governance: Support the work of the governing authority/board, lead the review of management processes (and decisions) for compliance with the organization's strategy for corporate governance of information and develop architecture policies and standards.
  7. IT Strategy & Planning: Develop policies, standards, and guidelines for how the organization conducts IT strategy development and planning, and lead the creation or review of an IT strategy which meets the requirements of the business.
  8. Relationship Management: Develop long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, maintain a strong understanding of industry and business and act as a subject matter expert on technology.
  9. Develop a library of deployable and documented cloud design patterns, based on ULTA’s application portfolio, as a basis for deploying services to the cloud.
  10. Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.
  11. Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public, and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
  12. Contribute to DevOps development activities and complex development tasks.
  13. Define optimal database design (Structured and un-structured) patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications.
  14. Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment.
  15. Provide support and technical governance, expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operations.
  16. Evaluate client business challenges and work with the team to arrive at the best-fit technology solution.
  17. Provide thought leadership in industry and to fellow team members across business and technical project dimensions solving complex business requirements.
  18. Demonstrate forward thinking around where the organization is going and how cloud technology can support these efforts.
  19. Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems.
  20. Act as the coach and mentor to team members and technical staff on their assigned project tasks.
  21. Develop a cohesive team and ensure their continued success.
  22. Lead the definition and development of cloud reference architecture and management systems.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or related.
  2. Seven (7) years in any occupation with IT or related experience.
  3. Seven (7) years in any occupation with IT or related experience must include: Seven (7) years of experience spanning at least three IT disciplines including technical architecture, automation, network management, application development, middleware, database management, or operations. Three (3) years of leadership experience in hybrid cloud environments including on premise, colocation, and public cloud integrated technologies. Three (3) years of experience automating manual processes using a scripting language such as Unix Shell or Python. Three (3) years of experience architecting infrastructure. Three (3) years of leadership experience troubleshooting and performance tuning. One (1) year of experience with servers and Container technology such as JBoss, Node.js, Apache HTTP, NGINX, or Dockers. Experience must also include: Python, C++, Java or Javascript; Jira, SVN, Git source code, or JDBC; Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Database technologies; Data architecture experience of designing and developing data models; and Experience with Terraform enterprise and implementing Infrastructure as Code.

TELECOMMUTING EMPLOYEE: Reports to company headquarters in Bolingbrook, IL. Can work remotely or telecommute up to 100%.

SALARY: $161,470.40 - $162,470.40 per year
