POSITION TITLE: Store Team Leader
AEO REPORTS TO: District Team Leader
STATUS: Full-Time Exempt
SUPERVISES: Store Leadership and Associates

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Store Team Leader, you are accountable for every aspect of the store’s operation and performance. You are responsible for driving a profitable business focused on creating genuine connections with our customers and associates that foster brand loyalty. As the principal leader of the store, you are expected to operate with limited supervision and make important decisions. You will set the tone for both the store leadership team and your associates ensuring that all areas of the store are operating efficiently and achieving key results. You will embody our values by creating a positive and productive workplace culture acting as a role model for all associates.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervising all other leaders within their assigned store and making employment decisions for associates in their assigned store, including but not limited to hiring and termination decisions.
  • Create a shopping environment and culture in-store that will enable customers to shop seamlessly between our website and retail store.
  • Set clear and measurable goals aligned with brand strategy; adjust as needed to maximize results.
  • Provide frequent performance feedback including annual performance reviews and development plans.
  • Develop a store succession plan to ensure key positions are filled in a timely manner.
  • Build career paths for associates; encourage associates to pursue internal growth opportunities.
  • Must exercise independent discretion and judgment in the execution of duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist associates with certain duties, ensuring that the Store Team Leader should not spend more than 50% of their time performing duties that do not require independent discretion and judgment (e.g., folding merchandise, stock processing, and routine POS checkout).

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for ensuring a leader is present in the store at all times.
  • Review, analyze, and take action using store reporting to identify trends and opportunities to positively impact store performance.
  • Identify underperforming store metrics and create strategic solutions that leverage existing tools, programs, and resources to improve results.
  • Create and implement peak seasonal hiring strategy to ensure the store meets required staffing, training, and associate developmental needs.
  • Ensure the store meets its payroll budget through the evaluation of store sales on a daily basis using payroll reports and tools; make scheduling adjustments to meet the needs of the business.
  • Provide leadership to the store for all visual directives to ensure mapping and floorsets are properly planned, scheduled, and executed seamlessly within the allotted time frame.
  • Manage sell-through by monitoring product levels, ensuring the accuracy of inventory in line with the visual merchandising strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, regulations, and laws, including but not limited to safety policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the Legal Department and appropriate Human Resource Business Partner relating to any legal/governmental business, visits, or correspondence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, and directing a team in a specialty retail environment.
  • 5+ years of related customer service experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience attracting, developing, and retaining diverse and dynamic teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, provide feedback, and manage performance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, nights, overnights, and weekends.
  • Intermediate computer skills - Kronos Time-keeping Software, and other technology.
  • High level of ethics, values, integrity, and trust.
  • Ability to travel periodically as needed to support business needs.
  • Must meet the essential functions and requirements of the job (leadership, operational, and physical) with or without reasonable accommodation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders to re-stock and obtain merchandise.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to continually walk, frequently push/pull, occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/reach above shoulders/kneel.
