Job Requirements / Description

The Medical Assistant plays an integral role in the medical office acting as a patient advocate and liaison with physicians and nurses. Collaboration with the team is needed to update patients' electronic records, scheduling, and performing standard procedures such as blood draws and vitals.
Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  2. Assists patients to exam rooms and identifies needs for assistive devices such as wheelchairs.
  3. Accurately updates patient's electronic record (i.e. medical history, contact information)
  4. Assist with scheduling patient appointments
  5. Performs standard procedures such as, but not limited to blood draws, vitals, and EKGs.
  6. Accurately and efficiently measures and records vital signs.
  7. Prepare exam rooms and medical instruments for examinations and procedures.
  8. Administer injections, medications and point-of-care testing as directed by the physician.
  9. Cleans exam rooms according to standard protocols to include stocking of rooms as needed.
  10. Maintains a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
  11. Answers phone calls with a professional and compassionate greeting.
  12. Educates patients about medical conditions, treatment plans, and home care instructions as directed by the physician.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a medical assistant program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant
  • Prior experience in an orthopedic practice or healthcare setting is advantageous.

  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment
  • Exposure to blood, sharp instruments and other devices, body fluids and tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
  • Manual and finger dexterity
  • Hand and eye coordination
  • Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
  • Working under stressful conditions
