The Medical Director External Engagement, US Hematology Medical Affairs, will facilitate clinical and scientific understanding and bring in key insights from the oncology community to help inform and align with the Medical Affairs strategy of one of Sobi's products. This person will support the Executive Medical Director and help implement the US brand medical strategy for one product. The Medical Director External Engagement will partner with Field Medical to engage and educate health care providers (HCPs), medical organizations, payers and patient advocacy groups, enhancing access to clinicians and the quality of discussion. They will also partner with other units in the organization on cross functional initiatives.
The successful candidate will require an MD or DO with hematology and oncology fellowship training. A deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry is not required, but an open mind and strong desire to learn is. Other important characteristics desired include excellent communication and analytical skills, the ability to partner with others to achieve team/business unit goals and objectives while fitting into a “one team with a common purpose” culture.
Major Responsibilities:
- The primary emphasis of this role is to provide medical leadership for the external engagement of clinicians around the product's medical strategy.
- Become a disease state and product expert, providing feedback and insights to medical affairs deliverables.
- Work closely with Field Medical Team to develop/enhance KOL and key institution engagement plans.
- Partner with Field Medical Team to identify key resource needs and collaborate on development of field materials and tactics.
- Help plan and execute advisory boards and educational activities (webinars, medical roundtables, symposium, congress presence).
- Generate medical insights, partnering with the field team, and share them internally.
- Develop and foster strong collaborative relationships with internal partners including Market Access, Medical Information, Clinical Development, Sales and Marketing.
- Support the market access team as needed with medical expertise and in discussions/presentations to payers.
- Develop career through exposure to evidence generation projects, real-world evidence studies and publications.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with hematology and oncology training is required.
- Prior pharmaceutical or biotech experience is preferred.
- Ability to travel approximately 60% of the work week.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills required.
- A strong ability to form meaningful bi-directional relationships with the Medical Community.
- Willingness to partner with internal colleagues, and a motivation to work effectively in a cross functional team environment.
- Strong Scientific and clinical acumen as well as strategic and analytical abilities.
- Drive for results with urgency, solution-orientation, innovation.
- Open to the opportunity for career growth: Learning key areas of Medical Affairs such as evidence generation, publications, medical education and strategy development.

The base salary pay range for this role is $177,000 - 252,000 annually. Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings.
