Job Requirements / Description

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Apply proper field procedures and perform a variety of surveys such as but not limited to Topographic, Boundary, Planimetric, ALTA/NSPS, FEMA Elevation Certifications, Location, Right-of-Way, Control Network, GPS, profile, and cross-section, Construction Stake-Out, and As-Built
• Lead a field crew
• Perform survey computations using trigonometry, geometry, and algebra
• Create, reduce, and check field notes
• Operate, check, and perform basic field adjustments on rods, compass, transits, levels, tribrachs, total stations, robotic total stations, 3D scanner, data collectors, tripods, and GPS equipment
• Cleaning, care, and use of a variety of surveying tools and equipment
• Interact with client contacts and the public
• Must apply company and client policies as they relate to field and operations, office workflow procedures, and problem-solving techniques
• Record keeping and time keeping
• Reading site plans, boundary plats, highway plans, profiles and cross sections, horizontal and vertical curves, and utility plans
• Perform all other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience with surveying or in a related utility-based field
• NSPS/CST Level 2 - Required
• NSPS/CST Level 3 - Preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
• Proficiency knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Knowledge of survey computations, types of surveys, and field operations
• Knowledge of field note reduction and in-depth interpretation
• Knowledge of standard field procedures and principles
• Knowledge of data collection
• Knowledge of field safety protocols, procedures, and OSHA regulations and environmental situations
• Skill with surveying instruments and equipment
• Skill with CAD software for map and plan preparation
• Skill with effective communication both written and verbal for reporting and coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and team members
• Skill in identifying and addressing issues that may arise during survey tasks
• Skill in maintaining field notes and documentation
• Skill prioritizing tasks and managing multiple aspects of a survey project
• Ability to interpret and analyze survey data accurately
• Ability to lead and supervise a field team
• Ability to train and mentor team members
• Ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging terrain
• Ability to spot and correct errors or inconsistencies

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to sit or stand to work at a desk for long periods of time (2-3 hours) with the ability to move at will. Must be able to visit survey sites and traverse uneven terrain, climb equipment, ladders or stairs and move through survey sites using balance. May need to bend, crawl, kneel, or crouch. Must have strength to lift and carry laptop, survey equipment, or similar portable equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. through survey sites; vision to read printed materials, a computer screen and visually survey job sites. Must be able to communicate via hearing, speech, and writing either in person, over the telephone, or via computer. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel a computer mouse, keyboard and survey equipment, reaching, twisting or stretching for survey equipment or computer/keyboard/mouse at a desk, and using hands and arms to perform surveys at survey sites.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Hybrid working conditions exist in either a home office environment and/or work office or job site. Must possess the ability to follow general safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Must be able to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm. Must be able to travel overnight to other company office locations and/or client sites.

This position pays between $58,240 and $79,040 annually and is an exempt position. Benefits offered include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.
