About the Company

My client is a propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the Dallas, TX area. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Propulsion Design Engineer to support our mission of creating cutting-edge defense solutions.


About the Role

  • Be a part of a rapid R&D team engaged in the development/testing of solid/hybrid rocket systems.
  • Generate or modify CAD models, component drawings, assembly drawings, work orders.
  • Support development, design, and production of rocket engines/motors.
  • Work with analysis/fluids/manufacturing/testing teams to iterate designs.
  • Make project decisions based on technical merit, cost, and schedule metrics.
  • Analyze and interpret test data to improve and qualify propulsion systems meeting customer specifications and/or research objectives.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimization of propulsion systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to meet project goals.
  • Ensure that all propulsion systems and processes comply with governmental regulations and safety standards.


Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Experience with rocket engine/motor development and testing.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in mechanical design.
  • 2+ years of experience with CREO (preferred), SOLIDWORKS, NX, or CATIA.
  • Experience with PLM software.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of mechanical systems.
  • Capability to manage project efforts and solve complex problems.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Self-motivate with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Focus on safety, reliability, innovation, efficiency, teamwork.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
  • U.S. Citizenship.


Required Skills

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree in aerospace engineering/mechanical engineering or related field
  • Professional experience designing/testing SRMs
  • 4+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis
  • 4+ years of experience with CREO and Windchill
  • Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability
  • 2+ years of Windchill experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Fluent
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, heat treating)
  • General system level knowledge of mechanical and testing propulsion hardware
  • Active or previous security clearance
