Primary Responsibilities:
HDR's Geotechnical Engineer provides engineering services to the power industry to perform analysis, design, and construction of modifications for large dams and other power infrastructure in the southeastern United States. Duties generally include: planning and oversight of geotechnical field investigation and laboratory testing programs; preparation of geotechnical analysis and design calculations and reports; review and evaluation of dam safety instrumentation data; finite element modeling of dams; preparation of design drawings and construction specifications; participation in dam safety inspections; and construction observation and documentation. HDR's Geotechnical Engineer works independently on smaller projects and as part of a multi-disciplinary team on larger projects.

Required Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field, and 3 years' experience in geotechnical engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field, and 5 years' experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Required experience must include experience in: planning, performing, and documenting subsurface explorations; reviewing and interpreting field and laboratory testing results; reading, reviewing, and interpreting geotechnical instrumentation; performing geotechnical calculations and preparing calculation documentation packages; development of engineering recommendations and writing geotechnical reports; using slope stability analysis software such as GeoStudio; GIS applications; AutoCAD; gINT; and MathCAD.
- Must hold Engineer-in-Training certification or have passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination (any US jurisdiction).
- Occasional overnight travel for field work at project sites in the Southeastern United States.
