KBR is seeking a Software Engineer SME to join our team. The candidate will leverage their extensive software engineering experience and skillsets to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to a US Government customer, supporting FFRDC, and other KBR members in a professional work environment.

This is a contingent position based upon contract award

Responsibilities:

1. Perform all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications.
2. Define system and software requirements and obtain customer approval.
3. Analyze customer requirements and translate them into a design.
4. Create prototypes.
5. Implement Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams.
6. Identify potential roadblocks and develop software solutions where the solution is not always well defined.
7. Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks.
8. Respond to and resolve software discrepancies against documented requirements.
9. Collaborate with a team to define software requirements.
10. Generate program design language and code based on department standards.
11. Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems for our customers.
12. Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards.
13. Explore new areas or program in new languages to deliver a complete product.
14. Support on-site meetings and deliveries to customers.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Active TS//SCI with CI Polygraph.
2. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
3. Minimum of 12 years of software development, object-oriented design, and programming, including architecture design, coding, and testing experience.
4. Container based application development experience.
5. Must possess a DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve customer and company goals.
8. Supervisory experience for a team of engineers.
9. DevOps Engineer (with >10 years of experience in configuration control, testing, security, automation, containerization, orchestration, and cloud services open-source technologies).
10. Hands-on experience with Java, C/C++, and/or Python.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
2. Experience with Postgres and MySQL, MongoDB.
3. Experience with AWS and Azure.
4. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes.
5. Experience with Fortify, CodeDx, Trellix.
6. Familiarity with Agile and/or DevSecOps procedures Contractor Product Owner (with >10 years of experience in software management and managing a backlog of requirements).
7. Experience with Neural Networks/Machine Learning.

Security Requirements: Must have an active TS-SCI with a current Polygraph.
