Job Purpose:
This position will help to nurture profitable program entity relationships such that customers value our Premium Finance services and we achieve superior, sustainable financial returns. The person serving in this role will work primarily with insurance carriers and agents to recover unearned premiums and deficiency balances associated with canceled accounts. This position requires strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills as well as persistence, professionalism and organization in follow-up communications. A successful Collections Associate resolves sensitive issues while maintaining respect for all parties involved.
Job Duties:
- Understand the requirements and process for the issuance of the cancellation notices and reinstatement requests.
- Act as first line of contact for assigned portfolios.
- Develop General Agent and Carrier relationships to facilitate collection efforts and tactfully encourage representatives to facilitate the prompt return of unearned insurance premiums.
- Maintain the financial integrity of accounts in assigned portfolio by maintaining complete and detailed records of transactions.
- Communicate internally with management, customers, Account Executives and Sales Executives as appropriate. Immediately alert manager regarding any problem accounts and meet regularly until resolved.
- Initiate and follow-up on a high volume of outbound telephone and email communications to insurance agents/brokers and carriers.
- Respond to inbound calls in a polished and professional manner.
- Effectively and respectfully respond to internal/external customers regarding billing questions and problems.
- Effectively manage charge-off accounts.
- Provide a month end problem account and Aged Trial Balance report to Manager for review and submission to Corporate.
- Coordinate with appropriate departments and personnel to analyze and resolve problems.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of tools used by our Customers, including our website, eForms, email reports and available payment options. Effectively communicate the applicable features and benefits and provide training on their usage.
- Comply with Internal Audit standards.
- Be knowledgeable of Best Practices and review procedural changes to ensure compliance with the organizations policies and procedures.
- Provide excellent service to all customer inquiries (external and internal) by responding promptly and thoroughly to all requests.
- Will provide provide backup and support for other associates as needed.
- Will perform special projects as assigned.
Education, Job Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong customer service skills

- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of insurance or finance
