Job Description

The Senior HR Consultant - EEO & Compliance plays an integral role for the Office of Human Resources' efforts to ensure Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) / Affirmative Action (AA) obligations are met for the University of Missouri-Columbia. The Senior HR Consultant - EEO & Compliance is responsible for ensuring all qualified applicants and employees are receiving equal opportunity for recruitment, selection, advancement, and every other term and privilege associated with employment in alignment with federal and state regulatory obligations and the strategic needs of the organization. The Senior HR Consultant - EEO & Compliance will implement, monitor, and evaluate EEO/AA policies and plans while collaborating closely with Recruitment Consultants, Campus HR-Partners, and Hiring Authorities to advance operational EEO/AA compliance across the campus.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Recruitment, the Senior HR Consultant - EEO & Compliance will work on a variety of special projects designed to fulfill EEO/AA program responsibilities. These projects will focus on enhancing equitable and inclusive practices and ensuring compliance with anti-discrimination laws in the workplace. Additionally, the Senior HR Consultant - EEO & Compliance will work on other HR compliance topics related to changes in federal, state, or reginal law as well as strategic HR/Recruitment projects.

In order to be successful, the Senior HR Consultant - EEO & Compliance will partner closely with the University's Recruitment Center of Expertise, campus HR Leaders, and other key constituents across Human Resources and the Office of the General Counsel, as well as divisional leadership across the University.

Primary Job Duties

  • Implement, monitor, review, and evaluate internal programs and processes related to the Affirmative Action Plans to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations for the whole campus, including breaking down and interpreting data.
  • Design, tailor, and deliver critical EEO training programs for campus HR-Partners, Recruitment Consultants and Specialists, as well as Hiring Managers and Supervisors in the areas of outreach, recruitment, selection, pay equity, retention, promotion, termination, and other employment practices to:
    • understand how institutional obligations and related reporting create accountability for their work and actions.
    • document actions to report out on mid-year performance summaries.
    • develop division-specific action-oriented plans.
  • Proactively establish and maintain relationships with internal/external partners and vendors as well as individuals and groups within and outside of identified protected classes to maximize outreach opportunities to attract talent, related to EEO compliance.
  • Conduct regular reviews of practices around job postings and dispositioning, job groups, internal/external availability groups, and factor weights in collaboration with vendors to ensure accurate raw data.
  • Keeps abreast of developments, trends, and best practices in the field of equal employment opportunity law and related sources to recommend and advise upon revision or updates of EEO/AA policies and practices.
  • Complete individually, or as a part of a team, a variety of critical projects requiring specialized analytical, evaluative, and interpretive skill to achieve the internal EEO program responsibilities to eliminate systemic discrimination.
  • Lead or participate in other strategic HR/Recruitment projects.
  • As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of the University.
Shift

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Policy, Law, Dispute Resolution or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in higher education, preferably in recruitment, as an HR Business Partner, or in HR/EEO compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and considerable ability to analyze data, define areas for improvement, formulate recommendations, and implement solutions for complex issues.
  • Ability to collaborate successfully with a broad variety of internal and external constituents at all levels paired with a strong commitment to service-orientation.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards, discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • HR certification or CAAP (Certified Affirmative Action Professional).

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $65,000 and $75,000 annually.


Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
