Support onsite operations at Pentagon 3-5 days a week
The client is looking for a retired O-6 ( Colonel) who has strong analytical and strong critical thinking skills. The cyber piece they can learn on the job. Of course if their military experience includes anything control systems related, that is an added bonus for the client.
Task Description:
The Control Systems Cybersecurity Consultant shall serve as a senior advisor to provide technical guidance to the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Director for Control Systems Cyber Resiliency and the DAF Cyber Resiliency Office for Control Systems (CROCS) program. He / she shall help analyze industry best practices and guidance from NIST, NSA, DOD, and Air Force for integration into the DAF control systems / operational technology cybersecurity program. The candidate shall make technical recommendations for designing, deconflicting, integrating, tracking, and supporting government-approved strategies, programmatic initiatives, and technical solutions to mitigate cyber vulnerabilities on ICS/SCADA and Operational Technology supporting DAF critical, IT-enabled infrastructure.
The ideal candidate should have a strong cybersecurity background and experience working within facilities / physical infrastructure or industrial control systems environments. Candidate should also be able to handle senior client communications and briefings, have strong customer interaction and strategic delivery skills to interface with technical teams and a variety of installation-level, cyber operator, and senior Pentagon stakeholders. Knowledge of zero trust architecture, Risk Management Framework, NIST cybersecurity controls, network enterprise architecture, emerging security technologies, and defensive cyber operations (especially in military environments) a plus. Previous executive support experience at the HAF (or equivalent staff) is highly desirable.
The tasks for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Analyze and provide technical recommendations for control systems cybersecurity architectural design and implementation (40%)
Facilitate meetings and review sessions with senior policy makers, base-level personnel, and cybersecurity subject matter experts (20%)
Develop detailed progress reports, presentations, and written products to provide status and oversight (20%)
Author policy, technical guidance, and job aids to support base personnel and training initiatives (10%)
Provide Project Management Office-like analysis, reporting, and financial tracking of project status (10%)
Required skills/Level of Experience:
Bachelor s degree is required
Minimum of ten years experience leading office admin teams, supporting a GO/SES or similar role, and knowledge of AF programs with AF and/or DoD technical writing and briefing preparation.
Cybersecurity strategy / policy / governance and oversight knowledge skills and abilities
Engineering, computer science, or facilities-management degree
Strong aptitude to deconstruct, tackle, and communicate complex problems
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in fluid, non-structured environments

Have one or more relevant cybersecurity certifications: A+, Security+, CCNA, CISSP, GICSP
