About the Organization:
People Incorporated of Fall River, MA ( delivers premier services supporting developmental, educational, and vocational needs to children and adults of all abilities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. This long-established and reputable 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency has multiple sites that offer a wide variety of programs among its divisions, which include Adult Day, Children’s, Community & Family, and Residential. Founded in 1968 by parents of people with disabilities, People Incorporated is now one of the largest employers in Greater Fall River, with nearly 800 team members who are dedicated to the people they support.
With the Diabetes Association as an affiliate organization, People Incorporated also provides services for children with Type 1 diabetes, including disease management and education. This is most evident in the Diabetes Association’s flagship program, the Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes, a specialized medical summer day camp.
In the Agency’s Children’s Division, the well-established People Incorporated Preschool will transition to a newly constructed, $13M, 20,000 sq. ft. center in 2025, which will further expand its reach and impact. Megan Stirk, President & CEO, has been with the Agency for over 15 years in progressive leadership roles. Elizabeth Machado has over eight years of dedication to People Incorporated’s fiscal department, beginning as Vice President of Finance and soon becoming the Agency’s Chief Financial Officer, a tenure that has overseen substantial growth and maturity in the Agency’s financial stability. With the promotion of Ms. Machado into her forthcoming role of Chief Operating Officer, People Incorporated now seeks a seasoned, responsible, and creative figure eager to be a team player joining the Agency as Chief Financial Officer.

About the Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this role has oversight of a $50M operating budget and a team of 8 reports. The Agency is on solid financial footing, and the finance department is a full team of dedicated employees, as evidenced by the scores on Charity Navigator (96% out of 100 and 4/4 stars for the Accountability & Finance category).
The CFO:
- is a key member of the Administrative Management Team,
- participates in shaping the future of the Agency, which is currently in the first year of a revised three-year strategic plan,
- works collaboratively with the Accounting Director and Payroll Coordinator to facilitate the bi-weekly payroll,
- presents the Financial Report at Board of Directors meetings and regularly updates the Finance Committee of the Board.
Preferred Experience & Education:
A well-qualified candidate has a servant leader mindset and is at their best in a mission-based organization as demonstrated by 8+ years of experience in a nonprofit setting (including 4+ years in a supervisory role). This individual has a “can do” perspective, a strong work ethic, and the interpersonal skills to be a strategic member of the leadership team. Ideal candidates have experience with cloud-based accounting software. Experience with state contracts and the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report (UFR) is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA or CPA preferred.
