Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll cycles. This includes overseeing the collection and processing of employee timekeeping data, verifying hours worked, and making necessary adjustments for bonuses, overtime, or deductions.
  • Ensure the organization adheres to federal, state, and local regulations related to certified payroll, particularly in the construction industry. This includes maintaining compliance with prevailing wage laws for public works projects and submitting certified payroll reports as required.
  • Oversee the integration of payroll with construction job costing processes, ensuring labor costs are correctly attributed to projects. Collaborate with project managers and the accounting team to ensure financial data is accurate, supporting effective project budget management.
  • Oversee all payroll tax obligations, including the calculation, filing, and payment of federal, state, and local payroll taxes. Ensure that all required tax forms (such as W-2s) are accurately prepared and distributed.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and integrity. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies related to payroll processing.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to payroll expenses, job costing, tax filings, and other payroll-related financial data. Provide insights to leadership for decision-making purposes.
  • Manage and mentor payroll staff, ensuring they are trained on current systems, processes, and compliance requirements. Provide ongoing support and development to the payroll team.
  • Review and refine payroll processes regularly, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Stay updated on payroll laws and regulations, making adjustments as needed to ensure continued compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll management experience, preferably in construction.
  • Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and job costing in the construction industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced data analysis skills.
  • Experience with accounting systems like NetSuite is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to process improvement.

Compensation: $85,000 - $100,000 annually, based on experience.
