Responsibilities:
Position Summary:

Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages of diverse population from newborn to geriatric population using appropriate vein-puncture and skin puncture techniques. Accessions requests and processes specimens for testing or referral to outside reference

Required Qualifications:

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Possesses knowledge and skill necessary to safely and professionally collect venous and capillary blood specimens from patients of all age groups.

Provides accurate timely processing of clinical specimens, preferably in multiple laboratory disciplines.

Good judgment and problem solving abilities.

Good communication skills in English, a knowledge of basic medical terminology and ability to follow technical direction.

California Phlebotomy License. BLS certification.

One year previous laboratory experience in a hospital environment preferred.

Hospital Mandatory Education Requirements: Orientation, Environment of Care, OSHA, Infection Control, Abuse/ Neglect, and Ethics, Tuberculosis Screening, Licensure Renewal

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
