Whether you work in our state-of-the-art Casino, our beautiful Resort, or become a staff member in our Tribal Government division, you will be part of the Sycuan family.Job Purpose:Provides medical assistant services to patientsJob Duties and Responsibilities:(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)Screens patients prior to visit with medical providerPerforms treatments and diagnostic procedures including audiology screens, visual acuity screens, EKGs, and ear cleansing by irrigationAssists medical providers with exams and minor surgical proceduresAdministers and documents parenteral, oral medications, and skin tests as ordered by providerCleans minor wounds, changes dressings, and removes sutures with direct supervisionPrepares exam rooms and equipment ensuring exam rooms are clean and neatEnsures inventory is current and exam rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and formsScans prescriptions to the pharmacy prior to patient’s departureCompletes appropriate areas on Electronic Medical Records System, including vital signs, allergies and medicationsScans insurance information and medical reports into Electronic Medical Records SystemEvaluates patient’s immunization status and administers vaccinations according to accepted schedules, standing orders, and per medical provider’s approvalMonitors vaccine supply for appropriate refrigeration and freezer temperatures and immediately notifies supervisor of temperatures out of rangeRegisters immunizations in San Diego’s immunization registry databaseObtains, prepares, stores, and forwards specimens to servicing laboratory in absence of lab tech to include: finger stick hemoglobin, blood glucose, hemoglobin A1C determinations, lipid levels, urine pregnancy test, rapid strap test, urine dipstick, urine micral, and collects capillary lead specimensInforms medical providers of observed patient behavior that may affect patient’s illness or treatmentProvides patient comfort and brings patient issues to the attention of the Clinical Operation ManagerEnsures sharps containers are changed as necessaryMonitors eye wash stations dailyEnsures standards for infection control are met in accordance with local, state and federal OSHA regulationsAssists with required reports as neededParticipates in health conferencesAttends all full staff and departmental meetingsMaintains continuing education requirements for MA recertificationCleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated supplies according to OSHA guidelinesJob Specifications:Education and Experience:Essential:High School Diploma or G.E.D.Completion of a Medical Assistant certificationMedical Assistant ExperienceCurrent CPRCertificationDesirable:Tribal clinic experienceExperience in a Primary Care environmentState Certified Medical AssistantSkills and Knowledge:Essential:Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations governing medical records and medical office protocolsAbility to communicate and interact effectively with patients and medical personnelAbility to enter data into data-baseWorking knowledge of Electronic Health Records databaseAbility to prioritize and perform multiple tasksAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructionsAbility to maintain confidentialityExcellent knowledge of English both written and oralAbility to appear for work on timeAbility to maintain professionalism and composureAbility to accept constructive criticismAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to walk and stand for 8 hours at a timeAbility to perform repetitive bending, reaching, pulling and pushingAbility to assist with the transfer of patient from wheelchair to examination tableDesirable:Multi-lingualSupervisory/Managerial Accountability:Direct: NoneIndirect: NoneIf you enjoy being part of a community dedicated to creating a memorable guest experience, we invite you to explore career opportunities with Sycuan and join our winning team!Other detailsPay Type HourlyApply NowTribal, 2 Kwaaypaay Court, El Cajon, California, United States of America
