Twenty-One (21) vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:
Anywhere within Information Technology.
The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Advises on highly complex issues, studies, research and analysis projects. Work pertains to the security research, acquisition, design, development, and maintenance of new or substantially improved information systems.
- Represents and speaks on behalf of IT and IRS at professional meetings and conferences. Consults with senior level staff in IRS and other IT specialists on IT policies, issues, and problems.
- Provides professional leadership and direction in the conceptual design, formulation and development of major prototype and developmental systems or in making extensive modifications and upgrades to existing systems.
- Conducts research into areas of great importance, significance, and difficulty, such as artificial intelligence.
- Consults and collaborates with other international experts to develop IT policies and direction; represents IRS and the U.S. in national and international technical committees.
- Functions as the recognized program expert and technical/professional expert and is sought after for consultation, advice and guidance in the field of computer science and tax information systems.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
- Telework Eligible Positions: Employees must meet and sustain IRS telework eligibility requirements.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check.
Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement OR time of referral.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (ALL GRADES): You must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-14 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-15 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level.
EDUCATION: See above requirement that you must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant field.
Education
For positions with an education requirement, submit a copy of your transcripts or equivalent. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
Additional Information
- A 1-year probationary period is required.
- Tour of Duty: Day Shift - start and stop times are between 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Relocation expenses are not authorized.
- The employment will be conditional on obtaining and maintaining a High Risk Security Clearance.
