Job Requirements / Description

The Duty Operations Manager’s role is to improve flight safety via active weather monitoring, flight operations and flight following support, crew communications, and crew decision making. The Duty Operations Manager must be able to adapt to rapidly changing conditions, make timely and informed decisions, and always keep safety at the forefront. The Duty Operation’s Manager will have the ability to initiate the emergency response plan, suspend flight operations with input from the Flight Operations Department, restrict flight activities, and act as a safety advisor to all flight crews.


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Designated Emergency Response Manager on-duty
  • Ensures:
  • Activates Emergency Response call-tree and checklist when an incident or accident occurs
  • Ensures regular updates are communicated to all stakeholders in an agreed format and timelines
  • Fully trained on Flight Schedule Pro (FSP) and utilizing the system ongoing while on shift
  • Assisting PIC with making go/no-go decisions
  • Reviews student log for proper solo endorsements for student’s solos
  • Ensures the flight Ops team audits certificates and documents on file in FSP for students and Instructors
  • Ensures TCO compliance in the dispatch processes
  • Process training records for solo activities and FAA check rides
  • Review crew flight plan
  • Review weight & balance and performance data
  • Reports on key operational metrics (for example but not limited to: cancellation numbers and rationale, no-shows)
  • Coordinate and communicate with maintenance regarding squawks, aircraft availability, stranded aircraft and crew ensuring a robust communication process and hand-over to the next shift where applicable
  • Work in coordination with maintenance to ensure aircraft utilization is adhered to by the dispatch desk
  • Flight following responsibilities:
  • Monitoring weather and NOTAMS
  • Monitoring do back times
  • In coordination with the Chief of Standards, develop a policy for radio communication at the dispatch desk, maintenance, and flight crew
  • Ensuring policy covers operational safety and the incumbent is responsible for the execution on a shift basis
  • Supervision of the dispatch/Flight Operations Specialists
  • Is responsible for staff schedule and supervises the teams activities and processes
  • Supervises the flight crew standby list to ensure maximizing capacity opportunities when aircraft become available
  • Resolves FRAT and mitigates and collaborates with crew on reducing flight risks


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 1+ years of management experience
  • 2 years of dispatch experience
  • Dispatch Certification


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree Preferred (i.e., Aviation, or Business Administration)
  • Dispatch Certification
